November is National Hospice and Palliative Care Month, a time to recognize the importance of compassionate, person-centered care for individuals facing serious illness and their families. 💙At the Quality Institute, our Conversation of Your Life (COYL) program promotes advance care planning by helping people discuss and document their wishes for future health care, including the care they would want if they could no longer speak for themselves.

Through education and community engagement, COYL encourages individuals to have these important conversations with loved ones and health care providers so their preferences are understood and respected. This month, we encourage New Jersey residents to take the first step in planning for their future health care needs.

Today, Quality Institute Vice President of Policy, Kate Shamszad, testified before the New Jersey Senate Health, Human Services and Senior Citizens Committee on the impact of H.R. 1 on health care access in New Jersey.

Drawing on our collaboration with state and community partners to lead stakeholder engagement on H.R. 1 changes to Medicaid, Kate outlined recommendations to improve enrollment and renewal assistance and expand access to primary and preventive care for uninsured residents.
