What if your child’s crowded teeth are telling us something bigger? 👀

A narrow palate doesn’t just affect how permanent teeth come in. It can also mean less space for the tongue and nasal airway, which may contribute to mouth breathing, snoring, restless sleep, and other breathing concerns. If a child isn’t getting restorative sleep it can lead to tiredness, behavior and attention issues, and wrongfully diagnosed ADHD.

The exciting part? We don’t always have to wait until all the adult teeth are in to help.

During childhood, we have a unique opportunity to evaluate growth and, when appropriate, use early orthodontic treatment such as palate expansion to create more space and support healthier oral and facial development.

Parents often come to us because they notice:

• Mouth breathing
• Snoring or restless sleep
• Crowded teeth or a narrow smile
• Difficulty breathing through the nose
• Behavioral concerns
• Concerns about how their child’s jaws are developing

Sometimes orthodontics is about much more than straight teeth. 💚

At Green Valley Orthodontics, we evaluate the teeth, jaws, growth, and airway to determine whether early treatment could benefit your child.
