Did you know October is National Physical Therapy Month?

Physical therapy isn't just about getting back on your feet after an injury. It's about movement, strength, confidence and helping you do more of what matters to you.

Throughout October, we're celebrating physical therapy and the difference it can make in everyday life. Stay tuned as we share more about the people and services behind the work we do at Professional Rehab Associates.

🏁 It’s been a little while since we’ve given everyone a PRA sponsored racecar update… so let’s catch you up!

We’ve been chasing a power issue with the car. She’ll run strong… until she decides she’s had enough and starts losing power a few laps in. So lately there’s been a whole lot of diagnosing, adjusting, replacing, testing, and then doing it all over again.

Which got us thinking—it’s really not all that different from what we do at Professional Rehab Associates.

When something isn’t working the way it should, you don’t just give up on it. You figure out what’s causing the problem. You work on the weak spots. You make adjustments. You test it. And sometimes you go back to the drawing board and try something different.

There’s no magic fix in physical therapy, and apparently there’s no magic fix for a stubborn race car either. 😉

Both take patience, persistence, and a willingness to keep working until you get the performance you know is still in there.

So that’s where we are with the #55—still working, still wrenching, and still determined to get her back to 100%.

Rehab looks a little different in the Linkous Motorsports garage, but the goal is the same: put in the work, make progress, and come back stronger. 🏁🔧

It’s National Rehabilitation Awareness Week.

Rehabilitation is about more than recovering from an injury. It’s about helping people get back to the things that matter to them—whether that’s playing a sport, getting back to work, walking without pain, keeping up with the grandkids, or simply feeling confident in their own movement.

This week, we’re celebrating the patients who keep showing up, the progress that happens along the way, and the therapists who help make that progress possible.

The semester is in full swing at Radford University, which means busy days, long walks across campus, hours of studying, and plenty of time spent sitting in class or at your desk.

With everything on your schedule, it can be easy to forget to make time for movement—but your body needs it!

Try adding a little more movement to your day: Take the long way across campus, take a quick stretch break between study sessions, make time for a workout or recreational activity and give your body time to recover, too!

Here's to a healthy, active semester, Highlanders!

We love hearing from our clients about their experiences with our Physical Therapists! Dr. Allie Pertee provides physical therapy services at our clinic in Wytheville including sports PT, orthopedic, and dry needling.

"I'm probably Dr. Allie Pertee's oldest patient at 91 years old; and she has made such a difference in my life in just a couple of weeks. I took a fall a few weeks back; and started going to therapy. I already feel stronger; and feel like I'm less likely to fall again. This young lady really knows her stuff. Can't wait to see how I feel after a few months with Dr. Allie!"

Welcome back, Radford Students! 🎒

As you settle back into the rhythm of classes, activities, athletics, and campus life, don't forget to make time for yourself, too. Move often. Get enough rest. Stay active. And take care of the body that carries you through it all.

Have a great year, Highlanders!

Couches. Boxes. Mini-fridges. Luggage. And approximately 47 trips up and down the stairs.

Before you start hauling everything into the dorm, remember to:
Lift smart. Keep heavy items close. Take breaks. And ask for help when something is too heavy or awkward to handle alone.

Your back will thank you later.
