🚨 Your gym trainer is NOT your prescriber.
I’ve had patients tell me they’re purchasing GLP-1 injections and peptides directly from gym trainers, and as a Nurse Practitioner, this raises serious concerns.
Let me be clear: I have nothing against personal trainers. They play an important role in helping people achieve their fitness goals. But fitness expertise does not equal medical authority.
💉 Here’s what concerns me:
When you’re purchasing injectable medications from an unauthorized source, do you really know what’s inside that vial? Where it came from? Whether it’s been stored properly? Or if the dose is even appropriate for you?
In California, a personal training certification does NOT authorize someone to prescribe medications. Selling or distributing prescription medications without proper authorization may also violate the law.
And here’s something else worth knowing: Not all peptides being marketed for weight loss, muscle growth, or recovery are FDA-approved for human use.
These aren’t just fitness supplements. Some are prescription medications, while others are experimental substances with limited human safety data.
Your health deserves more than a recommendation from someone at the gym.
I’m not sharing this to scare you. I’m sharing it because being informed could protect your health.
You can trust your trainer with your workouts while trusting a qualified medical provider with your medications. Both have important roles, but they’re not interchangeable.
💬 Did you know that purchasing injectable medications from unauthorized sources could put your health at risk?
