ClearPath Healthcare While our name has changed, our dedicated team, our commitment to 24/7 care, and our deep roots in Central Oregon remain the same.

Offering hospice care, transitions, veterans support, bereavement, and now in-home primary care throughout Central Oregon. Hospice care is designed to focus on quality of life for the terminally ill patient. Our goal is to enable patients to be as comfortable and as free of symptoms and pain as possible, so that they live each day as fully as possible. We believe in treating the patient holistically, honoring their life and their wishes. Our philosophy is to provide support for the patient’s emotional, social, and spiritual needs as well as medical symptoms management as part of treating the whole person. We incorporate a small team approach in providing compassionate personalized care for each patient. Our primary focus is our patients and their families, who we serve with dignity and respect. We believe that our patients have a right to participate in all decisions about their care. We offer suggestions based on sound medical practices but it is our patient’s life and ultimately our patient’s choice as to what will help them on this very personal journey.

This has been a heartbreaking week in Central Oregon, and many of us are carrying it, including children who are trying to understand something no child should have to.

ClearPath has walked beside grieving families in this community for 47 years, and we want you to know that our grief support is open to anyone, not only to the families we have cared for in hospice. If you are a parent, teacher, school staff member, or neighbor who doesn't know what to say or how to help a hurting child, you are welcome to call us. Our bereavement team can talk with you by phone, point you to our grief support groups, and share simple, gentle guidance on helping children cope with loss.

There is no cost, and you don't need to be connected to ClearPath in any other way. Call 541-548-7483 and ask for our bereavement coordinator, Kat, or visit https://f.mtr.cool/py1y7blv8q

Please take care of each other this week.

Following the loss of life at Silver Rail Elementary School, ClearPath Healthcare is hosting two community conversations for anyone who wishes to mourn and process what has happened. On October 22 and 29, from 1 to 3 pm, ClearPath’s Bereavement Coordinator and a Licensed Clinical Social Worker will host a gathering at the Redmond Library (Community Room #2) for anyone who would like to mourn together. No RSVP is needed, and you may come to one session or both.

Our hearts are broken for our community. We are thinking and praying for the people who lost someone, those recovering from injuries, and everyone in Central Oregon affected by what happened at Silver Rail Elementary School.

Central Oregon is a small place, and this loss is felt far beyond the people who bear it most. We are so sorry.

Last month, our Serving Those Who Served team joined some local United States Submarine Veterans at Brookdale Senior Living in Redmond with the USS Sturgeon replica they built from an old aircraft drop tank. Anne, a Navy veteran and ClearPath volunteer, was part of the crew. Residents, many of them veterans, came out to see it and swap stories.

This is what honoring service looks like between the ceremonies.

Thank you to everyone who came out, and thank you to Brookdale for hosting.

You've been asking about this one, and the answer is yes — the Kids Corner is coming back to the Festival of Trees, with Santa, cookies, and a crafts table full of hands-on activities for little hands, running from 10 am to 1 pm.

We're able to bring it back thanks to Boulden Rogen Early Childhood Academy, who stepped up to sponsor it. They spend their days with young children, so it made sense for them to make sure kids had a place of their own to land in the middle of a busy weekend. We're grateful to them.

Bring the little ones. Saturday, December 5, at the Deschutes County Fair and Expo Center.

You can be on hospice and still be golfing. Still driving yourself to appointments. Still going to a concert. Hospice is not only for the last few days, and knowing that earlier can give a family months they would not otherwise have. Kat and Kelly explain in this month's blog. Tomorrow is World Hospice and Palliative Care Day, and the truth is that many families come to us later than they wish they had.

Hospice is not the moment everything stops. It is the moment a whole team steps in - a nurse, a social worker, a chaplain, a volunteer - so that a person can be comfortable and known in the place they call home, and so the people who love them can go back to being family instead of full-time caregivers.

If you are unsure, but you want to learn more, give us a call. We are glad to talk it through.

Festival of Trees raised more than $200,000 last year. Those funds keep our donor-supported programs going, including Transitions for seriously ill Central Oregonians, hospice care for uninsured patients, Camp Sunrise grief camp for children, community bereavement support, and Pet Peace of Mind. In this video, Stephanie explains what being an event sponsor might look like. We would be honored if you would consider sponsoring our event to keep these programs going.

Thank you to the Bend Bulletin and Emily Rogers for spending time with our in-home primary care team.

Since May, our providers have made hour-long house calls, regularly seeing more than 70 homebound seniors, from Bend to Madras, Prineville, and Camp Sherman. There is no membership fee. Visits are billed through insurance, and the program is open to adults 55 and older who have a hard time getting to a clinic.

Today is the International Day of Older Persons, and it is a good moment to say something we believe all year. Growing older in the place you love, surrounded by the people and routines that make a life feel like yours, is no small thing. It is worth protecting.

For 47 years, our team has been walking alongside Central Oregon families in exactly those places, at kitchen tables and on front porches from Redmond to Prineville. Whether that looks like hospice care, non-medical support through Transitions, or a provider who comes to your door, the goal has never changed. We meet people where they already are.
