Connecting our community with assistive technology resources! 💙

The Nevada Assistive Technology Resource Center (NATRC) joined the 35th Annual Disability Awareness Day at Lorenzi Park on October 10th to share resources and connect with community members.

A highlight was meeting Sofia Andrea Sanchez, host of the YouTube series Sofia Explores Nevada, which shares disability resources with other young people with disabilities. Sofia interviewed our team, and we’re excited to share the video once it’s available!

Thank you to everyone who stopped by our table! 🤝

🎾 Celebrating 10 Years of Tennis Buddies! 🎾

We just wrapped up our 10th year partnering with the Sierra Junior Tennis Association to bring Tennis Buddies to our community — and we couldn’t be more proud of our athletes!

Tennis Buddies provides a fun, interactive, and supportive environment where individuals with developmental disabilities can build confidence, improve their fitness, learn new tennis skills, and continue developing their game.

Throughout the program, we watched our athletes work hard, try new things, improve their skills, and celebrate each other’s successes. Whether it was mastering a new stroke, improving a serve, rallying longer, or simply feeling more confident on the court, every accomplishment was worth celebrating. 💙

We are so grateful to the Sierra Junior Tennis Association, our incredible volunteers and buddies, and all of the families who help make this program such a special experience year after year. And we could not do it without our amazing volunteers! We are forever grateful for our volunteers from Jeff Assiff’s University of Nevada, Reno kinesiology class and all of our tennis friends who come out each week to help us out!

Most of all, congratulations to our Tennis Buddies athletes! Your determination, enthusiasm, and growth on the court make us so proud. 🎾👏

This week, NCED was honored to attend the BLEEH Thank You Luncheon celebrating the Biggest Little Easter Egg Hunt and Resource Fair. 💙

We are incredibly grateful to have been part of this wonderful event since it began five years ago. Each year, BLEEH brings our community together in such a meaningful way, and we left the luncheon feeling especially thankful for the people and organizations who continue to show up for children and families.

The Biggest Little Easter Egg Hunt and Resource Fair is about so much more than a fun day for kids. It raises awareness about the importance of Child Abuse Prevention while helping create positive, inclusive childhood experiences for ALL children.

One of the things we especially appreciate about BLEEH is its commitment to inclusion. 🐣🌷 The event offers an adaptive egg hunt for children with disabilities and sensory sensitivities, as well as a calm room where children — and anyone who needs it — can take a break, relax, and regulate during the event.

These thoughtful efforts are a wonderful reminder of what every child deserves: safety, care, inclusion, belonging, and love. ❤️

We are so appreciative of the incredible work of Tiffanie Story, along with the many agencies, organizations, volunteers, and community members who come together year after year to make BLEEH possible.

Creating safe, stable, and nurturing environments for children takes all of us. When a community comes together to support children and families, we help create opportunities for every child to grow, learn, and thrive.

Thank you, BLEEH, for showing what is possible when a community comes together for kids. 💙

A big shoutout to our Las Vegas, Nevada Assistive Technology Resource Center team! 🎉

Catherine and Allen joined the Age Well Live Well event on September 19, connecting with nearly 30 community members and sharing how assistive technology can support everyday life. Attendees have already reached out to schedule appointments and explore their options!

A special thank you to Mayor Shelley Berkley for stopping by our table again this year and giving NATRC a shoutout on social media. We’re grateful for the community support and excited to keep helping Nevadans find tools that support independence. 💙
