Advanced medicine matters.

Access to innovative treatments, sophisticated technology, and the latest approaches to cancer care can make an important difference in a patient’s journey.

But so does something much simpler:

Being greeted by someone who knows your name.
Having a care team that remembers your story.
Being able to ask questions and feel heard.
Knowing the people caring for you see more than your diagnosis.

Because exceptional cancer care should never feel impersonal.

We believe patients deserve the best of both worlds—advanced oncology care grounded in the human connection that makes every patient feel known, heard, and cared for.

The medicine may be advanced.
The care should always be personal. 💛

When treatment ends, a different part of the journey begins.

Survivorship can include:
• Follow-up appointments and surveillance
• Watching for possible late effects
• Managing changes in your physical health
• Adjusting emotionally to life after treatment
• Finding your new sense of normal

The National Cancer Institute notes that follow-up care can help address both physical and emotional concerns after treatment, and that the transition can affect caregivers and families, too.

Finishing treatment is a milestone—but it doesn't mean you have to navigate what comes next alone.

Because care should continue beyond treatment. 💙

Treating cancer means caring for the person carrying the diagnosis.

Cancer affects more than the body.

It can bring fear, anxiety, stress, loneliness, changes in relationships, and uncertainty about what comes next. These emotional challenges can happen during treatment—and sometimes continue afterward.

That's why comprehensive cancer care includes support for the whole person.

💙 A safe place to talk about fears and concerns.
💙 Behavioral health and counseling when additional support is needed.
💙 Resources for patients and caregivers.
💙 A care team that listens—not just treats.

Asking for emotional support isn't a sign of weakness. It's another way of taking care of yourself.

Because behind every diagnosis is a person with a life, a family, hopes, fears, and a story.

We treat the cancer. And we care for the person living through it.

When you hear the words radiation and chemotherapy, it can be difficult to understand how they differ—and why a treatment plan might include one, the other, or both.

Radiation therapy is usually local.
It is directed at a specific area of the body where cancer is located. Think of it as a focused treatment designed to target a particular tumor or region.

Chemotherapy is usually systemic.
Chemotherapy uses medicines that travel through the bloodstream, allowing them to reach cancer cells throughout the body—not just one specific location.

So why might someone receive both?

Because cancer treatment is often about using different tools for different purposes. Radiation may target a specific area, while chemotherapy may address cancer cells throughout the body. Depending on the type and stage of cancer, these treatments may be used together, before or after other treatments, or not at all.

Local or systemic. One treatment or several. Every plan is different.

The goal is to create a treatment approach based on the individual patient, their cancer, and what their care team believes will provide the most appropriate care.

Because cancer treatment shouldn't be one-size-fits-all. 💙

MYTH: Joining an MSO Means Giving Up Control.

FACT: The right MSO partnership can provide scale without replacing physician leadership.

At CCS MSO, our model is designed to preserve what makes your practice unique while providing the resources needed to grow:

✔️ Clinical autonomy — physicians remain in control of clinical decision-making
✔️ Local identity — your brand and community relationships remain important
✔️ Shared resources — gain the advantages of a larger platform
✔️ Stronger infrastructure — operational support built to help your practice grow

An MSO can support the business side of the practice while physicians continue leading patient care.

Growth doesn't have to mean giving up what you've built.

Patients in Northern Nevada and beyond will benefit from nationally recognized cancer expertise, close to home.

Cancer Care Specialists of Reno (CCS), a leading oncology and hematology provider in Northern Nevada, has joined the UC Davis Comprehensive Cancer Center, Care Network as an affiliate member.

The affiliation, which began this month, connects patients and physicians in Reno, Carson City, Nevada and surrounding communities with the expertise of UC Davis Comprehensive Cancer Center, one of 58 National Cancer Institute (NCI) -designated comprehensive cancer centers in the U.S.

Through the new relationship, CCS physicians and care teams will have greater access to UC Davis Health specialists, multidisciplinary case review, provider education and research support. The goal is to help more patients receive advanced cancer care close to home while creating clear pathways to specialized services when needed.

“We believe patients deserve exceptional cancer care without having to leave the communities where they live and receive support from family and friends,” said Wesley Falconer, president and COO of Cancer Care Specialists. “This affiliation with UC Davis Health strengthens our ability to bring advanced expertise, innovative therapies and academic collaboration to our patients while preserving the community-based care that is at the heart of our mission.”

The UC Davis Cancer Care Network works with community cancer providers across Northern and Central California to expand access to specialized expertise, clinical trials and leading-edge cancer care. Through the new affiliation with Cancer Care Specialists, the network is extending that support into Nevada.

“We are excited to welcome Cancer Care Specialists,” said Yulia Thorpe, MBA, director of the UC Davis Cancer Care Network. "This affiliation brings together the strengths of community-based cancer care and a nationally recognized academic cancer center. Together, we can expand access to clinical research support and advanced treatments for patients throughout Northern Nevada.”

The affiliation will also strengthen coordination for patients with rare, advanced or complex cancers. This includes expanded pathways to services at UC Davis Health such as bone marrow and stem cell transplantation.

“Cancer care is rapidly evolving, and relationships like this help ensure more patients can benefit from the latest advances without traveling far from home,” said Andrew Bresnahan, vice president of UC Davis Comprehensive Cancer Center and Cell and Gene Therapy. “We look forward to working alongside CCS to expand access to specialized expertise and help improve outcomes for patients across Northern Nevada.”

Two people can have the same type of cancer and receive different treatment.

Why? Because cancer is personal.

Doctors may look at biomarkers and molecular testing to learn more about what makes a patient’s cancer unique.

Think of it like looking beyond the name of the cancer to understand its specific characteristics.

Testing may help identify:
• Certain genes or mutations
• Proteins or other markers
• Features that may make a cancer more likely to respond to a specific treatment

That information can help the care team determine which treatments may be most appropriate for that individual patient.

Same diagnosis doesn’t always mean the same treatment.

Because the goal isn’t simply to treat the cancer.
It’s to understand the cancer—and the person who has it.

Cancer Care Is a Team Sport.

Behind every patient is a team of people working together to make care possible.

👩‍⚕️ Physicians & APRNs guide diagnosis and treatment decisions.
💙 RNs & MAs provide hands-on care, education, and support.
📅 Schedulers & Front Desk help keep appointments and communication moving.
🩻 Imaging Teams provide information that helps guide diagnosis and treatment.
💊 Pharmacy Teams help ensure medications are safe, accessible, and ready when needed.

Each role is important. Each person plays a part.

Because exceptional cancer care doesn't happen through one person or one department.

It happens when an entire team works together—with the patient at the center.
