🚨 PUBLIC HEALTH IN ACTION! 🚨
Have you ever wondered what the Environmental and Food Division of Public Health does? Their work goes far beyond inspections — sometimes, it means responding to unexpected emergencies to protect the health and safety of our community!
Last night, Jordan Chops, County Sanitarian, and Shelby McElroy, Assistant Sanitarian, were called to the scene of a semi-truck wreck involving approximately 36,000 pounds of pork. After eight hours of cleanup and coordination, the pork was removed and properly disposed of to protect public health and ensure food safety.
While much of our work happens behind the scenes, situations like this highlight the important role that our Environmental and Food Division play in protecting public health. From food safety to environmental health concerns, our team works to help keep Jasper County safe!
