Walking Together for Alzheimer’s Awareness

This Sunday, Angela Crawford and Teresa Wall from the Livonia, MI PCS Leadership Team had the privilege of participating in the Alzheimer’s Walk at the Detroit Zoo!

A heartfelt thank you to Roxanne, Executive Director at American House Stone, for welcoming them to participate alongside their team. They truly enjoyed being part of such a meaningful and engaging event, which brought the community together through helpful resources, music, giveaways, and fun for all ages.

This annual walk brings the community together to support individuals and families affected by Alzheimer’s disease. As a home healthcare organization, The Medical Team understands the importance of compassionate care, support, and connection for those living with Alzheimer’s and the loved ones who care for them.

Healthy Aging Month: Which One Matters Most to You?

Healthy aging can look different for everyone, but these 5 things can make a difference in our quality of life:

Staying Active
Spending Time With Family
Keeping Your Mind Active
Maintaining Meaningful Connections
Staying Independent at Home

So, which one is most important to you?

At The Medical Team, all five are important to us, but staying independent at home holds a special place in what we do.

Our at-home care services are designed to help individuals receive the support they need while continuing to enjoy the comfort, familiarity, and independence of their own home.

Because getting the right care doesn't have to mean giving up the lifestyle you love. We’re here to help you maintain your independence and continue living life on your terms, at home.

To all the grandparents who have shared their love, taught us valuable lessons, and helped shape who we are thank you.

Today, as we honor the hard work and dedication of workers everywhere, we want to pause and extend our deepest gratitude to our incredible team.

Providing compassionate care in the comfort of our patients' homes, often during some of life’s most vulnerable moments is a labor of love. To our nurses, aides, social workers, chaplains, therapists, and administrative staff: thank you for the heart, skill, and steady support you bring to our community every single day.

Wishing all of our patients, families, and neighbors a restful, safe, and peaceful Labor Day.

Discover the power of art through our Wellness Program! Creative activities sharpen the mind and keep hands nimble and strong. Joining our group projects builds joyful social connections that fight loneliness, while the act of creating reduces anxiety and brings a deep sense of accomplishment. Here is another example of how Dawn provides such a wide range of activities to support seniors in our partnering communities.

The Medical Team's Wellness Program benefits seniors in so many ways! Art strengthens senior health! Creating art boosts memory and brain power, while crafting improves finger dexterity. Our group classes combat isolation through fun socialization, and the creative process lowers stress while building a sense of pride. This is just one of the many ways The Medical Team invests in the communities that we serve!

August 30 is National Grief Awareness Day.

At The Medical Team, we understand the many emotions that can come with loss. Today, we honor those who are grieving and the families who are navigating life after the loss of someone they love.

As part of our commitment to supporting families beyond the hospice journey, The Medical Team offers grief support groups and music therapy groups for the families of our patients. These groups provide meaningful opportunities to connect, share, remember, and find comfort alongside others who understand.

Grief deserves to be acknowledged, supported, and met with understanding. You don't have to walk through it alone.

Our seniors partake in caring for our habitats! They assist with watering, identifying caterpillars on the plants outside of the habitat and even naming and releasing them!
