I was pumped to go to āthe worldās largest labyrinthā just because that sounds amazing and I made it to Costa Rica. It was more than I could have ever imagined. Iām still unpacking it. This post has been a couple months in the making but I just canāt figure out how to find the words or choose the pictures to do it justice.
Hereās some answers to questions Iāve gotten:
šNo, you donāt get pricked by the cactus. The paths were made 6 feet wide to account for their growth.
š Yes, it was hot. I went at 8am to beat the heat. They also suggested after 4pm.
š They say it takes 1-1.5 hours to walk. It took me an hour and 45 minutes. I was really into it.
š Yes, you can walk off or straight to the center, just like any labyrinth. Except that this one has two centers, even creating a third ācenterā at the midway point of the path and the design.
šYou can also return to the labyrinth- if you remember where you left. Maybe mark it and the direction you were going. You can orient yourself by finding the geodesic dome that looks over it.
šYes, there are bathrooms.
šAccording to my research, Itās an original design of a Vesica Piscis, co-created by two Costa Ricans: Ronald Esquivel, an architect, labyrinth designer, and specialist in sacred geometry, and Sergio Salas, a homeopathic doctor and dowser who identified the two energy centers. Read about it. Itās amazing.
š I sent up my visit through the ābook a visitā button on their website and then communicating directly with Griet Depypere, the owner of the farm. Immensely grateful to her and all the staff who care for the land and help make visits possible.
š Yes, Iāll be back.
