๐ŸŒŸ Staff Spotlight: Meet Aloma Cordes ๐ŸŒŸ
For the past two years, Aloma Cordes has been connecting our counselors, clinicians, and clients to community resources. As our Administrative Operations Liaison, she spends her days making sure staff are matched with the clients who need them, coordinating with hospitals and agencies on step-down services, and helping our nonprofit provide the community with food and clothing.

Aloma's path to behavioral health began when she saw the need to help those who wanted to better themselves. She continues to show up motivated knowing that she is helping others meet their goals. ๐Ÿ’ช

A valuable lesson the field has taught her is: you have to be open, honest and create boundaries.

The thing that Aloma loves most about working at SCBHS, is that the team is one big family that can tell each other the truth and have each otherโ€™s back when needed.

Outside of work, Aloma enjoys reading ๐Ÿ“š, and she recharges with a good dinner and a glass of w**e ๐Ÿทor buying something new.

She's excited about the new programs that will expand what SCBHS can offer the community. And for anyone considering a career in this field, her advice is: make sure you have the heart to serve and help the community. โค๏ธ

Staff Spotlight: Meet Shaina Jenkins, our Owner & CEO ๐ŸŒŸ

For 7 years, Shaina Jenkins has led Southern Change Behavioral Health Services with heart, purpose, and an unshakeable commitment to community care.

As Owner and CEO, Shaina oversees SCBHS operations; from compliance and clinical leadership to staff development and community partnerships, all while keeping one thing at the center: person centered care. She believes in leading with purpose and a genuine desire to see both staff and clients thrive.

๐Ÿ’ฌ "I believe service is my assignment."

Shainaโ€™s path into behavioral health started young, serving at church, supporting deaf classmates, helping fellow students earn their GEDs, and volunteering with individuals experiencing homelessness. That spirit of service was passed down through generations.

๐Ÿ’ฌ "I come from a family of givers... they taught me to help those in need because life can change in a split second, and one day it could be any of us needing that same compassion."

Shaina is honest about the toll this work can take, while remaining clear-eyed about why it matters:

๐Ÿ’ฌ "This work is rewarding, but it's also heavy... if you genuinely want to help people, have compassion, and have a natural ability to problem solveโ€ฆgo into it fully committed."

What makes SCBHS different?
๐Ÿ’ฌ "Every person at SCBHS is handpicked because we want people who not only have the skill set, but also the heart, intent, and genuine desire to help change lives... we show up."

Outside of work, Shaina recharges with family time, travel, and the occasional TV binge.

Thank you, Shaina, for showing up for our clients and our community. ๐Ÿฉท

Meet Erica Howard, SCBHS Operations Manager ๐ŸŒŸ

Since July 2021, Erica has kept the wheels turning behind the scenes at Southern Change Behavioral Health Services with 16 years of experience in the human services field. Erica handles billing, maintains employee files, and preps payroll. Her role is the essential detail driven work that keeps SCBHS running smoothly so the team can focus on client care.

What drew her to behavioral health?
๐Ÿ’ฌ "I want to help those in need."

And what keeps her going is knowing the impact is real:
๐Ÿ’ฌ "Knowing that the services we provide makes a difference in the lives of the community."

On the work culture at SCBHS, ๐Ÿ’ฌ "We operate like family. Thick skinned."
Her colleagues know her as upbeat and always willing to step in where needed.

Erica is honest about the emotional demands of the field too:
๐Ÿ’ฌ "The day to day encounters can be taxing on your mental, so be sure to find an outlet."

Her own outlet? A well earned massage with jazz playing in the background, plenty of time in the garden, and trips to the Caribbean islands whenever she can get there.

In her opinion SCBHS provides a safe and stable environment for clients.
๐Ÿ’ฌ "Provides a safe and stable place to open up without judgment."

Her advice for anyone considering this career?
๐Ÿ’ฌ "Don't come just looking for a job. You have to have a heart and a willingness to help."

Erica, Thank you for your contributions to the team and helping to move SCBHS forward.
