If you’re scrolling through birth content and it feels like everyone is having a water birth… but deep down, you actually feel more comfortable birthing on land, that’s totally okay.

Water birth can be a beautiful option, but it is not the end-all-be-all of birth.

There is something incredibly powerful about a mother finding the position, environment, and support that make her feel safe and comfortable.

Birthing on land can be just as beautiful. Just as peaceful. Just as empowering. Just as memorable!

You don’t have to choose water because it’s what you see most often online. You don’t have to recreate someone else’s birth to have a beautiful birth of your own.

Maybe you want the birth tub nearby but never get in. Maybe you love standing, kneeling, squatting, leaning over the bed, or moving around freely. Maybe you simply feel more comfortable with your feet on solid ground.

Really, there is no “right” way to labor and birth.

Your birth doesn’t have to look like the births filling your feed to be a beautiful, empowering experience. Choose what feels right for you — and let your birth be your own.

Have you ever wondered what it’s like to arrive while in labor at The Genesis Resort for Birth and what you can expect?

First, you’ll be greeted with a warm smile, by name. We won’t grab paperwork for you to fill out or pressure you into getting an IV. We go 100% at your pace, and our efforts are focused on making sure you and your birth partner are comfortable, settled, and feeling ready to meet your baby!

Need the place a little cooler or warmer? Absolutely.
You feel thirsty or hungry? Let’s drink some liquids and eat some snacks.

Need to move around? Would walking on flat floor, or up and down stairs feel best?

It is our goal to ensure that you have a beautiful, unforgettable experience with us; that you truly feel supported, valued, and taken care of during your labor and birth experience.

What actually happens when you arrive at a birth center in labor? 🤍

If you’ve never been to a birth center before, you might picture arriving in labor and immediately being hooked up to monitors and rushed into a room.

But birth center care often feels very different.

Here’s a little behind the scenes of what those first moments can look like:

1. You’ll be welcomed in and settled.
There’s no need to rush through the door and immediately “get to work.” Your midwife and birth team will help you get comfortable, settle into the birth space, and start assessing how you and baby are doing. 😌

2. Your midwife will check in on you and baby.
They’ll talk with you about what you’ve been experiencing, how labor has progressed, and how you’re feeling. Baby’s heart rate and your vital signs will be monitored appropriately while keeping you moving around as freely as possible, at your comfort level.

3. You’ll have time to settle into your rhythm.
Depending on where you are in labor, you may walk, change positions, use the birth ball, get into the tub, eat or drink, rest, or simply breathe through contractions. Your care is adapted to YOU rather than forcing you into a rigid routine.

4. Your birth team is watching, listening, and supporting.
While it may look calm and unhurried from the outside, your midwives are continually assessing the bigger picture; your well-being, baby’s well-being, and how labor is progressing—so they can help you make informed decisions throughout your birth.

The goal isn’t simply to have a beautiful birth space, but it’s also to create an environment where you can feel safe, supported, informed, and cared for while your body does the work it was designed to do.
