Becoming a Future Human.

One of the take home points…

Hormones: The Great Conductors of the Human Genome

Think of the human body as a magnificent symphony.

DNA is the musical score.
Genes are the individual sections of music.
Receptors are the musicians receiving the cues.
Hormones are among the great conductors, helping determine how that score gets expressed.

But there isn’t just one conductor.

Our hormones are constantly communicating with one another—estrogen, progesterone, testosterone, thyroid hormone, cortisol, insulin and many others—each influencing the next.

Throughout different hours of the day, different stages of life, and changing states of health, it is almost as if one hormone hands the baton to another, changing the tempo and directing different parts of our genetic score.

And having enough hormone is only part of the story. The signal must be received. Receptors and the cellular environment help determine how effectively that hormonal message is translated into a biological response.

This is why hormone health isn’t simply about asking:

“Is my hormone level normal?”

A deeper question is:

“Is my body able to hear and respond to the hormonal message?” There is no one size fits all. Balanced hormone response takes a wholistic approach.

Interesting article on how the mind controls inflammation and cellular response.
"In those who tried to distract themselves from the itch, the inflammation – as measured by redness and swelling of the skin – grew larger in size and lasted longer than in those who focused their attention on the site." I would expect that staying with calm thoughts while focused on an area that has redness and swelling would be more beneficial then worrying of worst case scenario while focusing on redness and swelling.
Scientists are working to build a case that our rate of aging has a lot ot do what our thoughts.

Some people leave an imprint on your heart that never fades. ❤️
Craig will never be forgotten!

From the first time I met Craig he was full of life and always had a smile on his face and an encouraging word to lift you up. The first picture was taken at a functional medicine meeting. Several days later, I woke up to an early morning text from Craig telling me that he and his family were coming down with COVID. I immediately sprang into action, calling in scripts and putting together an immune-support package for them. That was simply what friendship looked like—we looked out for one another.

The second picture was taken during a very different season, when Craig was the one supporting me through my own health journey. That was Craig. Always caring, always encouraging, always showing up for the people he loved.

And then there is the last picture. The beautiful sunset tonight feels like a little sign from Craig—a reminder that although he has left this earthly place, his presence and his love haven’t disappeared. I like to think he is still watching over all of us.

Craig was so full of love, kindness, joy, and genuine concern for others.

Love doesn’t end when someone leaves this earth. It simply takes on a different form.
One of the most meaningful ways we can continue to support Craig and honor the work he cared so deeply about is by continuing to support Tru Functional Health, his healing center on 16 N Street. By walking through those doors, supporting the center, and continuing the healing work he believed in, we help keep a piece of Craig’s beautiful legacy alive. ❤️
