Join us for our **FREE October Parent Seminar: Bridging the Gap Between Mental Health & School-Based Supports**, presented by special education advocate **Genevieve Castleman Kasarjian of Castleman Advocacy**.

We’ll talk about the disconnect that can happen between mental health needs and school-based supports, what resources and accommodations may be available, and how families can better advocate for what their child needs.

💛 September is Su***de Awareness Month

Sometimes the people who are struggling the most are the ones who seem like they’re doing just fine.

They’re going to work. They’re taking care of their kids. They’re showing up for friends. They’re laughing, posting, and saying, “I’m good.”

But we never really know what someone is carrying.

This month, we want to remind everyone that it’s okay to ask the question. It’s okay to check in. And it’s okay to talk about su***de.

A simple “How are you really doing?” can open a door for someone who may be struggling in silence.

If you’re worried about someone, reach out. You don’t need the perfect words. You don’t need to have all the answers. Just being present and letting someone know they don’t have to go through it alone can mean more than you realize.

And if you’re the one struggling right now, please know that you matter. You are not a burden, and you don’t have to figure everything out by yourself.

💛 Check in on your people.
💛 Listen without judgment.
💛 Take signs of distress seriously.
💛 Encourage support when it’s needed.

We’re especially interested in clinicians who specialize in:

- Child & Adolescent Therapy
- Couples Therapy
- Family Therapy

Kristen Gloss, M.Ed is a clinician at our practice who sees teens and adults. She offers both in person and telehealth appointments.

Her book recommendations are Dungeon Crawler Carl Series by Matt Dinniman & Tiger Run by C.M. Howe. She speaks about the value of reading. Reading provides a way to take a break from daily life and offers the brain a chance to rest.

Books serve as a means to connect with others, whether through bonding over shared favorites or by experiencing perspectives different from one's own. These experiences can help provide clarity and shape how individuals view themselves and the world.

Published in 2024, the book links the sharp decline in youth mental health after 2010 to this "great rewiring," proposing solutions like delaying smartphone access and returning to more unsupervised play.
