I was told this by a mentor when questioning whether I should take the plunge to go back to school for nutrition.
I’d been navigating health issues like bloating, acne, brain fog, and imbalanced hormones since my teens. I hadn’t found truly helpful, lasting help in my 10+ years of trying to manage my symptoms.
But I also didn’t necessarily want to go back to school either. I love learning and continue to take courses, but something about someone keeping me accountable had me nervous.
I decided to do it though. And BOY am I glad I did.
I fixed those issues. I have steady, reliable health. If symptoms pop up, I know how to nourish myself and let them pass.
I also know that the info I learned during that time shouldn’t be reserved for practitioners. It’s fundamental, life-changing information that should be available to the masses just like literature, math, and physical education is at every school.
Every kid deserves to grow up knowing how to feel GOOD in their body. How to nourish their hormones as they grow. How their food can help their mental health. How to cook. How their environment impacts how they feel and interact with the world around them.
Kids deserve to have the knowledge that gives them freedom to do whatever it is they want in life because they’re healthy enough to do it.
So I teamed up with my partner, Amy, who had the same realizations I did, and we created a book that teaches kids the fundamentals of health so they can have as many freedoms available to them as possible.
