“But you’re a dietitian!! How can you drink Diet Coke?!” 😱

Becky, relax. Enjoy a little. There’s room for everything in life, even Diet Coke on a train. 😌

“¡¿Pero eres nutrióloga?! ¿Cómo puedes tomar Coca Light?!” 😱

3 years ago, I did something a little unhinged: I asked them to place a nasogastric tube on ME.

Why? Because I wanted to know what my patients feel when they have to be fed through a tube from their nose to their stomach.

Spoiler: it was AWFUL. And they did not even let me try the feeding part, it was just the placement. My throat hurt for 3 days straight. I have nothing but respect for every patient who lives with one for days, weeks, or months.

That day taught me more about empathy than any textbook ever could. Being a dietitian is about so much more than nutrients. It is about understanding what it actually feels like to be on the other side.

💚 I love nutrition!!

Have you or someone you love ever needed tube feeding? Tell me below
—————————

Science confirms it: eating together isn’t just about nutrition, it’s medicine for the soul 🍽️❤️

Growing up in Mexico, I was lucky that eating together as a family was just something we always did. It wasn’t the exception, it was the tradition.

And here’s the beautiful part: “family” doesn’t have to mean blood relatives. Sharing a meal with friends counts too. What matters is the shared table.

The has 35+ years of research behind something many cultures already knew in their hearts:

🥦 More fruits and veggies when we eat with others
🧠 Better connection and communication
💪 Teens with frequent family dinners are 3.5x less likely to misuse substances
😊 Higher self-esteem and emotional well-being
🍎 88% agree that sharing meals together matters

It’s not about a perfect meal. It’s about the table, the laughter, and being present, whether that’s with your blood family or your chosen one.

Who do you share your table with? Tell me below 👇
