Eating disorders don’t always exist alone.👇

They often co-occur with other mental health conditions, such as:

➡️ anxiety disorders
➡️ depressive disorders
➡️ obsessive-compulsive disorder
➡️ substance use disorder
➡️ post-traumatic stress disorder

However, despite how common eating disorders are and how often they co-occur with other more recognized conditions, they are still often underdiagnosed, overlooked, and undertreated.

In honor of # MentalIllnessAwarenessWeek, we'd like to shed light on how important it is to bring eating disorders into the broader mental health conversation. 👏

The more we do, the closer we move towards a world where every struggle is met with understanding, compassion, and access to care. 💙

Recovery is about more than weight restoration. It’s about life restoration. 👏 👏

Recovery can help give you the freedom to:

✨ share meals with the people you love
✨ be present for the moments that matter
✨ reconnect with loved ones
✨ make plans without your eating disorder making the decisions
✨ find joy in things that have nothing to do with food or body image
✨ build a life where connection, memories, and experiences have more space

This thoughtful article highlights a situation many caregivers may go through while caring for a child with an eating disorder — and addresses the complexities of living in a diet-culture and GLP-1-driven society. ⬇️

"If you know my story, you know it's a story about breakfast:

There was a time in my life when I convinced myself I just didn't like breakfast... That it was easy to skip because I 'wasn't a breakfast person.'

Then it became a game of how long I could go without eating breakfast... which turned into, maybe I can skip lunch too. And then, maybe... even dinner.

So when I tell you I woke up on a Thursday morning in Los Angeles, California, determined to make sure I got a famous breakfast burrito... I rannnnn and felt nothing but joy." ❤️🙏🏽

If the school year brings up hard feelings about your body, you're not alone. 🫶

It can be a lot:

➡️ comparison everywhere
➡️ appearance front and center
➡️ barely any privacy

That combination can create the perfect storm for body image distress.
