A little lesson from tonight’s sunset…
I watched these clouds assemble themselves into something so ridiculously perfect tonight that I couldn’t help but stop and pay attention.
And somewhere in that stillness, I realized something about myself.
I’m learning that peace feels very different than I once thought it would.
When something in life has seemed too good to be true, I’ve sometimes waited for the other shoe to drop. My nervous system would become activated—looking for the catch, the inconsistency, the thing I must not be seeing.
But maybe everything beautiful doesn’t need to be questioned.
Maybe sometimes something can simply BE good.
Because when something is genuinely aligned, I’m discovering there isn’t that familiar dysregulation. There’s no internal scrambling to understand it, control it, predict it or protect myself from losing it.
There’s stillness.
There’s trust.
There’s pure serenity.
There’s a beautifully balanced nervous system that somehow knows, I don’t have to do anything with this moment except experience it.
And that doesn’t mean everything has to be flawless. Quite the opposite.
Tonight’s sky wasn’t perfect because every cloud was perfectly placed. It was perfect because every cloud belonged exactly where it was.
Maybe that’s part of the lesson.
And perhaps healing is when we stop mistaking peace for something suspicious…and finally allow ourselves to recognize when something simply feels safe, beautiful and right exactly as it is because IT IS!
Tonight, I didn’t need the sunset to promise me what tomorrow’s sky would look like.
I just trusted the sunset. 🌅
