Dr. Roberts Joins Full-Time Morenci Urgent Care medical staff.

Dr. Mark Roberts joined the Urgent Care medical staff at Gila Health Resources in March of 2023 and became a full-time physician on the staff in July 2026. He is board certified in Emergency Medicine and has more than two decades of experience providing emergency and acute care. Dr. Roberts received his medical degree from West Virginia University, where he also earned a PhD in Pharmacology. Following a postdoctoral fellowship in the Department of Anesthesia at Yale University, he completed his Emergency Medicine residency at Pennsylvania State University/York Hospital.
Prior to joining Gila Health Resources, Dr. Roberts practiced Emergency Medicine in Delaware and Arizona, caring for patients in community hospitals, rural healthcare facilities, and tribal health systems. His experience includes emergency care at Kent General Hospital, Beebe Memorial Hospital, San Carlos Apache Healthcare, Hu Hu Kam Memorial Hospital, and several hospitals throughout Arizona.
In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Roberts has served as Medical Director for wellness and infusion therapy organizations in Arizona. He maintains certifications in Advanced Trauma Life Support, Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support, and Basic Life Support.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Roberts has a longstanding interest in pharmacology, emergency care, and medical leadership, bringing a diverse background in clinical practice, research, and physician leadership to the communities served by Gila Health Resources.

Please join us in welcoming Dr. Nathan Jones to our Occupational Medicine Staff! Dr. Jones joined the GHR Occupational Medicine Department in July 2026. He is board certified in Occupational and Environmental Medicine and Lifestyle Medicine. He received his medical degree from the State University of New York Upstate Medical University and earned a Master of Public Health degree from the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, where he focused on Occupational and Environmental Health.

Dr. Jones completed his Occupational Medicine residency through the Harvard Occupational and Environmental Medicine Residency Program in Boston and has extensive experience caring for workers across a variety of industries, including healthcare, mining, transportation, public safety, and energy. Prior to joining Gila Health Resources, he served as Chief of Occupational Medicine for Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson in Alaska and as Occupational Medicine Director for Beacon Occupational Health Services/International SOS.

In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Jones has served on the Board of Directors of the American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine and as a Major in the United States Air Force Medical Corps. He has authored multiple peer-reviewed publications and regularly presents at national conferences on occupational health, worker safety, and workplace wellness.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Jones enjoys spending time with his wife and four children, fitness, travel, Portuguese language, and Brazilian culture. He is fluent in Portuguese and spent two years living in Brazil.

Bagdad Family Medicine Appointments Now Available with Lacey Parkman, DNP, WHNP, FNP

Lacey Parkman joined the Bagdad Family Medicine medical staff in June 2024. Since then, she has focused exclusively on Women's Health services while expanding her post-graduate training in Family Medicine. In June 2026, she became a certified Family Nurse Practitioner, allowing her to provide a broader range of care to patients.

We are pleased to announce that, beginning Monday, August 17, Lacey will see both Women's Health and Family Medicine patients two days per week.

We would like to formally congratulate Naomi Clancy, MD, Medical Director of Family Medicine, for being appointed to the American Academy of Family Physician's (AAFP) newly created Rural Health Advisory Committee! This committee will guide the development, prioritization, and evaluation of AAFP's rural health strategy and represents an important step forward in the AAFP's commitment to ensure rural physicians have a meaningful and sustained voice in shaping the AAFP's work in rural health.

Dr. Clancy will serve as a member of this ten-physician committee for the next 2 ½ years and her voice will help to represent all of GHR's voices and experiences in providing health care in our rural communities. It is important that the current state of rural family medicine in communities across rural America be better understood, as rural practice environments are diverse, complex, and deeply shaped by local realities. Our unique mining communities are a part of that diverse rural health landscape.

Congratulations, Dr. Clancy, on this very well-deserved appointment and for your continued commitment to primary care in our rural communities!
