Macros are important when it comes to nutrition, but there are other things we can implement WITHOUT having to count macros.
🌟 Whole Foods should always be at the front line of any eating pattern, even if we're not working towards something. While processed foods in moderation aren't the worst thing- Whole Foods typically provide more nutritional value.
🌟 Slowing down at meal time is important & many times we don't event think twice about it. When we try to multi task while eating our meals, many times our brain are disconnected to what we are putting in our mouth. We forget how to listen to hunger cues & we ultimately dont get the same satisfaction out of the meal. Take a few minutes to set aside eating your meals with no distractions.
🌟 Find ways to ADD to your meals. You can find ways to make your favorite dishes have more nutritional value. Toss an extra serving of veggies with your into your favorite dish or put an extra oz or two of protein on your favorite pasta dish. Just because you have goals, doesn't mean you have to cut out your favorite dishes.
🌟 Liquid calories are one of the easiest way to consume lots of calories with no nutritional value. While I'm not saying that these have to be cut out completely, these should be consumed in moderation. A Dr. Pepper every once in a while is good for the soul, but in moderation of course.
🌟 Breakfast has always been the most important meal of the day. Eating breakfast has not only shown to help with cognitive function & energy levels but we tend to make healthier choices throughout the day when we have consumed breakfast.
