When you know, you know.

I’ve been focused for a long time on improving my mitochondrial function, fitness, recovery, and overall wellness, and exosomes have become something I personally use as part of that routine.

Exosomes are tiny extracellular vesicles involved in cell-to-cell signaling, and they’re being studied for their potential role in areas like inflammation, oxidative stress, and tissue repair.

I use them annually as part of my own wellness regimen.

A few of the growth factors associated with placental-derived MSCs that I find especially interesting are TGF-β3, BDNF, and GDF15.

Three new injectables just landed through our 503B partner, and I know a lot of practices have been waiting for these.

If you’re already ordering any of these, run the numbers.

You may be surprised how much room there is to save.

I’ve been getting more questions about what practitioners can offer during and after a GLP-1 program.

So, here’s one we carry that’s worth knowing about: Sarcotropin Pro.

It’s an oral formula that can be used alongside a GLP-1 program to support lean muscle while the patient is losing weight, and then continued afterward as they move into maintenance.

The current formula includes Sarcotyn™ Blend, Pli™ Blend, α-GPC, L-Leucine, L-Arginine, L-Pyroglutamic Acid, GABA, DMAE, Mucuna pruriens, Vitamin K2, Vitamin D3, and Prunus domestica.

No additional injection, which I know will make a lot of people happy.

For practitioners, I like that it gives you something to work with on both sides of the program: supporting lean muscle during weight loss, and then continuing that support after the GLP-1 is finished.

In a self-pay practice, the patient is paying for a lot more than the treatment.

They are paying attention to everything.

How was the first phone call? Was it easy to book the appointment? How did the front desk treat them? What did the office look like? Did the practitioner have good bedside manner? Did someone actually take the time to go through their labs with them?

All of those little things are helping that patient decide, “Do I trust this practice with my healthcare and my quality of life?”

And then comes the part I think practices sometimes forget.

The patient handed over their credit card and went home.

Now what?

If nobody follows up, the medication is late, or the patient has a question and cannot get anyone on the phone, it can feel pretty quickly like the practice took their money and left them high and dry.

And the fastest way to lose that trust?

Don’t follow up. Have sh*tty people on the phones. Make it impossible to get a question answered once the appointment is over.

A patient can have a great experience with the practitioner and still lose confidence in the practice because of everything that happens afterward.

That is not how you build a successful self-pay program.

The treatment matters, obviously.

But if you want that patient to stay with the practice, the experience surrounding the treatment matters far more.

Is a hormone optimization program worth it for your practice?

“My patients keep asking for it” is not a good enough reason to start offering it.

This comes up a lot with peptides.

Right now, you can go online and find a lot of these peptides being sold as “research use only.”

Okay, but what does that mean for the person buying it?

You really don’t know what you’re getting, and quite frankly, these are not for human use, which leaves your practice liable for suggesting them.

You don’t know the quality or testing unless you have a C of A to back it up.

There is a big difference between finding peptides online and going through a licensed provider who orders peptides through a trusted compounding pharmacy.

Regulations are changing quickly regarding injectable peptides; in the meantime, request a clinic price list from EC3Health for our liquid liposomal metered-dose peptides. These have our proprietary patented oral delivery system and work safely and effectively.

The cost of the medication shouldn't be the only factor determining the price of a cash-pay program.

One of the biggest factors is the practitioner’s time.

How involved do you want to be with each patient? How much time can you realistically afford to spend with them?

The more direct access a patient has to the practitioner, the more expensive the program typically is. I remember back in 2009 when I started to exhibit at the A4M for the first time, and the HCG diet was all the rage. I sat in on a couple of symposiums where a provider was charging close to $1,7000 per month, while others were charging $599 because he was completely immersed in the patients' weight-loss journey every step of the way.

I’ve seen cash-pay programs where the physician is heavily involved throughout the process, and other programs where staff manage the patients and the treatment cost is much lower.

Neither model is necessarily wrong.

But they are two very different levels of service, and the pricing should reflect that.

Before deciding what to charge, figure out how much of your time is built into the program, what add-ons will make your treatment program unique, add any additional staff time, and then price your program accordingly.
