This week at North Star Networking, we heard from Jesse Lutgen with Calhoun Companies!

Jesse shared more about his role in helping business owners find the right buyer and some of the challenges that come with it, especially when confidentiality is a priority. With business sales often taking 6 to 18 months, building relationships and finding the right fit is a big part of what he does.

He also showed us how to explore current business listings on the Calhoun Companies website, a great resource for anyone interested in buying a business.

Derick gave us a look at some of the projects he's been working on, sharing before and after photos of bathroom remodels, garage renovations, new sheds, and more.

A few of our North Star Networking members recently volunteered through United Way of Central Minnesota’s Days of Caring, spending time with Aslan Health for a “Pill Popping Party.”

Despite the name, the task was simple and meaningful: removing donated medications from blister packs so they can be organized and dispensed through RoundtableRx to uninsured patients in need.

Aslan Health provides affordable, whole-person care to underserved members of our community, and we were grateful to lend a few extra hands to help support their mission.

This week at North Star Networking, Barb with Color Street shared what continues to motivate her after 20 years in multi-level marketing.

These days, a big part of her “why” is what she calls her Grandma’s Traveling Fund, which helps her travel across the country to spend time with her children and grandchildren. It ties into something Barb strongly believes: success comes from having both passion and purpose. For her, that purpose is making other people’s lives better.

Barb also shared why multi-level marketing has been a good fit for her over the years. With Color Street, she can represent a proven product, earn sustainable compensation, and run her business without an inventory requirement.

This week at North Star Networking, Bill Syverson with Syverson PLLC - Attorneys at Law shared the standards that guide how he works with clients in estate planning and business law.

For Bill, good legal guidance starts with understanding the real objective, setting clear expectations, taking ownership, and keeping communication consistent throughout the process. Just as important is building a relationship that lasts beyond the immediate legal need.

Bill takes the time to get to know his clients and wants them to see him as a resource for years to come. In fact, many clients reach back out long after they first worked together, and Bill is always happy to hear from them and help however he can.

This week at North Star Networking, Alex Stay with Stay Clean Detailing MN gave us a better understanding of what it really takes to protect your vehicle’s exterior.

With winter around the corner, Alex focused on the damage snow, ice, road salt, and iron can cause when they are left sitting on your vehicle. He explained how contaminants can work their way into the clear coat and why a regular car wash, while helpful for surface dirt, does not always give your vehicle the deep clean it needs.

Alex even showed us the process of removing iron from paint and polishing the surface, which made it easy to see just how much can build up without being obvious at first glance. From there, he broke down the role of clear coat, polishing, and protective coatings, and how each one helps keep a vehicle looking better and protected longer.
