October 10 is World Mental Health Day, a reminder that mental health matters, every voice deserves to be heard, and no one has to face life’s challenges alone.

Whether you’re struggling, supporting someone you care about, or simply need someone to listen, reaching out is a sign of strength. Take a moment to check in with yourself and others, listen without judgment, and remember that support is available.

If you or someone you know needs emotional support or is experiencing a mental health crisis, call or text 988. You don’t have to go through it alone.

Fall is here, and respiratory virus season is just around the corner. 2026-27 Influenza and COVID-19 vaccines are now available at St. Croix Health.

Walk-in flu shots are available at the Frederic Pharmacy on Tuesdays from 9am to 3pm, and at the Unity Pharmacy on Wednesdays from 9am to 3pm.

Why get vaccinated?
• Vaccination can reduce your risk of getting sick and help protect against serious illness, hospitalization, and other complications from viral illnesses including RSV, influenza and COVID-19.
• Getting vaccinated can also help protect the people around you, including infants, older adults, and others who may be at higher risk for severe illness.

Influenza and COVID-19 vaccinations are available for everyone 6 months and older. Vaccine recommendations are based on age, immune status, and individual circumstances. Talk with your health care provider about what is recommended for you.

What about cost? Most health insurance plans cover recommended vaccines, although coverage can vary by plan. Medicare Part B covers both the seasonal influenza vaccine and COVID-19 vaccines, with no out-of-pocket cost when you receive it at a St. Croix Health Clinic or Pharmacy. Check with your insurance plan if you have questions about coverage and talk with your health care provider if you have questions about which vaccines are right for you.

Protect yourself. Protect those around you. Get vaccinated this fall.

Breast Cancer Awareness Month is an international health campaign designed to educate the public about breast cancer, promote early detection, and raise funds for research.

Did you know?
- 1 in 8 women will develop breast cancer in her lifetime.
- In 2026, an estimated 382,640 women and 2670 men will be diagnosed with breast cancer in the United States.
- There are currently more than 4 million breast cancer survivors in the United States.

Early detection of breast cancer through annual mammography and other breast exams is the best defense against receiving a late-stage breast cancer diagnosis.

The Latch is a moms' group that meets weekly on Tuesdays from 10:00 to 11:00am. We offer an opportunity to meet with other mothers, weigh your baby, learn about breastfeeding and infant care, and ask questions of the lactation consultant who leads the group.

Join The Latch on Tuesday, October 6, for our last outdoor meeting this year!

We will be walking and rolling together at the St. Croix Lions Park in St. Croix Falls. Siblings are welcome to join!
