We are once again seeing an uptick in fake tattoo accounts trying to sc@m 🚨YOU🚨

Check out slide 2 to see the most recent sc@mmer trying to claim they work for us.

✨️

How can the everyday tattoo enthusiast avoid falling victim to a sc@m artist tactics? Here are some of the red flags to look out for:

🚩 It is highly unlikely that a tattoo artist will ever reach out to you directly on socials inquiring if you would like to be tattooed. Particularly if you two have not worked together in the past

🚩They claim to work at a studio, but the studio does not follow them or feature their work on their pages

🚩You have seen the username before, but it's looking a little....off

🚩The studio website does not feature them as an artist

🚩Their featured contact info is from out of the state you live in. Unless they have moved locations, this should be an eyebrow raiser

What can you do to ensure the artist you want to work with IS who they say they are?

🟢 You can call their studio to inquire and verify

🟢 Check their username across platforms

🟢 Go to their studio website and double-check to make sure they are featured

🟢 DM their studio page to ask for more details. Check and see if how that artist takes deposits and manages their scheduling

Sc@m artists are growing smarter and changing their tactics each and every day. If you are EVER concerned that you may not be speaking to a real artist who works at Weird Ink Society, please do not hesitate to reach out. We care deeply about our community and want to ensure that your experiences within our realm of work are positive.
