Meta likes removing our captions for some reason so let's try this again. While Shep's in surgery we figured now is a good time to go over the diagnosis we received in Boston. With a voiding ultrasound they determined he has a double urethra and partial imperforate a**s. Classified as a type 2 A2 Y urethral duplication based on how it was explained to us. Some facts about urethral duplication ⬇️⬇️⬇️
Urethral duplication is an extremely rare congenital anomaly overall, occurring in fewer than 1 in 1,000,000 live births Worldwide, less than 500 total cases of all types have been documented.
90 - 95% of cases occur in males.
Y type duplication accounts for 22% - 36.5% of all cases.
This will need to be a multi staged repair which will require a couple trips back to Boston. Some things need to be ironed out beforehand but until those happen this is what we know. 🫶🏻
