"Are you the POA or the guardian?" 🤔
It's a very common question we encounter when visiting a client in a the hospital, an assisted living facility, nursing home, or memory care community. Here's the difference:
⚖️ A **guardian** is appointed by a court to make decisions for someone who can no longer make them safely.
📝 A **POA** or **health care surrogate** is someone chosen through legal documents to handle finances or health care decisions on a person's behalf.
💛 An **Aging Life Care Manager®** is an educated, trained, credentialed professional who knows the aging journey inside and out.
If you've been named POA for a parent, you know how heavy that responsibility can feel. You love them, you want to get it right, and you may be juggling it all on top of work and family. Maybe you're even wondering if guardianship is the only option when you have a parent with dementia.
You don't have to figure it out alone. We help you understand every option, make decisions with confidence, and make sure your loved one is truly seen and cared for. 🌿
