Supporting strong communities starts with ensuring people have a safe and affordable place to call home.

Last week, members of our team attended the Habitat for Humanity Mid-Willamette Valley HopeBuilder Breakfast at the Salem Convention Center. We were inspired by the stories of hope shared throughout the event and grateful for the opportunity to learn more about Habitat's home repair program and their mission to expand affordable homeownership and strengthen communities across our region.

Thank you to Habitat for Humanity Mid-Willamette Valley for bringing community partners together and highlighting the impact that stable housing can have on the health and well-being of individuals and families.

A beautiful day, a great team, and a meaningful cause. 🍇

Last week, several of our staff members joined a Salem Harvest event at the invitation of PacificSource Community Solutions. Together, we harvested grapes that will be donated to local food pantries, helping ensure fresh food reaches families throughout our region.

We're glad to support efforts that strengthen community health and food security, and we're thankful to our partners for making this opportunity possible.

Last week, WHC staff joined community members and partners at the Eastern European Health Summit 2026, a gathering focused on culture, connection, and care.

The event featured keynote speakers, interactive workshops, youth voices, and cultural celebrations that highlighted the strength and resilience of Eastern European communities. WHC staff were also involved - Heather moderated the youth panel, and Lisa emceed the event, helping guide conversations throughout the day.

The summit also offered plenty of opportunities to connect with community partners and enjoy great Eastern European cuisine from a local restaurant. Thank you to the Eastern European Health Board for bringing people together for a day of learning, connection, and celebration. 💙

Willamette Health Council was proud to recently sponsor and have staff attend Honrando Nuestras Raíces (Honoring Our Roots), CAPACES Leadership Institute's annual fundraiser and celebration of 15 years of impact.

Staff came away inspired by the stories shared throughout the evening, including reflections from people involved in CAPACES' earliest days. One message that resonated was how strong roots help us build branches that support others, creating community, connection, and opportunities for leadership.

Congratulations to CAPACES on 15 years of uplifting leaders and strengthening communities. 🌿

Help us spread the word for our partners at the Northwest Hub! 🚲

Our friends at the Northwest Hub are hosting a Fall Youth Bike Drive and are collecting new and used youth bicycles throughout October.

Donated bikes help local kids gain access to transportation, recreation, and the many benefits of staying active and connected in their community.

Drop-off location: Northwest Hub, 1230 Broadway St. NE, Salem
You can also support the effort by sharing this post, sponsoring a young rider, or encouraging others to donate.

Every donated bike helps the Northwest Hub get more bicycles into the hands of local youth who can use them.

Yesterday, the Willamette Health Council team stepped away from our daily work to connect, reflect, and plan for the future at our annual staff retreat.

We were excited to spend time getting to know our newest team members, Aleysa and Amy, while also reviewing our accomplishments in 2026 and starting to set goals and priorities for 2027.

Of course, it wasn't all business. Our office relay game competition brought out everyone's competitive side, with two determined teams battling it out in a series of fun challenges. It came down to the final event, with the teams nearly tied at the finish!

We're grateful for the opportunity to strengthen our team, celebrate our progress, and look ahead together.
