Sparkle Health Tools & direction, through Functional & Osteopathic Medicine, to help you invest in your health.

We believe in reverse medicine, meaning we work to reverse the causes of chronic disease. There are many factors that contribute to the development of chronic symptoms. We ask WHY medical problems or symptoms occur, help identify root causes and formulate a personalized treatment plan. Personalized and Functional Medicine can provide meaningful results in the health of the individual and the health of the community.

No Membership Needed ✨ Neuromuscular Technique Massage

This technique uses a specific pattern, pace, and lighter pressure to help shift your nervous system out of fight or flight and into rest and digest. People book it for stress and anxiety, headaches, tight raised shoulders, low back tension, and posture. There's even a TMJ-focused option for the jaw clenchers.

Don't let "lighter pressure" fool you. Most people leave feeling completely different than when they walked in.

$115, no membership required.

October is Liver Awareness Month, and your liver deserves a little love. 🧑

It's one of the hardest-working organs in your body. It filters your blood, helps process hormones, and supports your energy, all without a single complaint. When it's working overtime, though, the signs can be subtle and easy to blame on something else.

In our Love Your Liver course, Dr. Mercuro (Functional Medicine and Obesity Medicine certified) walks you through:

πŸ”Ή Signs your liver may need more support
πŸ”Ή The root causes that put it under strain
πŸ”Ή The systems that help your liver do its job
πŸ”Ή Everyday habits for a healthier liver

It's on demand, so you can watch on your own time, and it's just $10.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. πŸŽ€ First things first: if you're due for a mammogram or screening, this is your sign to get it on the calendar.

It's also a great time to talk about your lymphatic system, the slow moving network that clears waste from your tissues and plays a major role in immune function. Lymph has no pump of its own, so sometimes it needs a little help.

That's where Manual Lymphatic Drainage comes in. This gentle, rhythmic massage encourages lymph flow and can support people dealing with puffiness or swelling, recovery after surgery (including breast surgery, with your care team's okay), detox programs, and lymphedema.

Book a single session at our Salem office for $155, no membership required.

One month into fall routines is a good time to check in on your gut. πŸ‚

New schedules, more grab and go meals, and less consistent sleep all chip away at gut health over time, and most people don't notice until digestion, energy, or mood start to slip.

Feeling off since school and work routines shifted? Your gut might be trying to tell you something.

FAQ Friday! πŸ”

"What if I'm running late to my appointment?"

We ask that you arrive on time since visits run 30 to 60 minutes and are built around your specific plan.

If you're more than 15 minutes late, we'll need to reschedule so we can protect that time for proper care, both yours and the next patient's.

Running behind? A quick call to the office helps us figure out the best next step.

September is National Cholesterol Education Month, and in functional medicine we look at cholesterol as one piece of a bigger metabolic picture, not a number to fear in isolation. 🩺

Diet, inflammation, thyroid function, and blood sugar all influence your lipid panel, which is exactly why we dig into the full picture instead of just the total number.

Due for labs? Let's look at the full metabolic picture, not just one number.

FAQ Friday! πŸ”

"How do I get a prescription refilled?"

Dr. Mercuro requires 72 hours notice for refills on prescriptions that originated in our office. You can request one through the Medication section of the patient portal, by portal message, or with a call to the office.

Compounded or mail order prescriptions need extra lead time, so plan ahead when you can.

Running low on something? Get that request in early so you're never without.

Apples, pears, winter squash, and carrots are all in season right now, and each brings a different mix of fiber, antioxidants, and micronutrients to your plate. Variety matters as much as quantity here. Different colors mean different nutrients.

Grab a mix at the farmers market this week and let your plate do double duty as dinner and medicine.
