AFTER SCHOOL, REIMAGINED

Something seriously cool is coming to Pemberton.

We built an after-school program where kids get to put their curiosity to work: building, creating, moving, exploring, experimenting, solving problems, and figuring things out together.

Pemberton Hive™ is a FREE, hands-on after-school program for Pemberton Elementary students in PreK–5th grade, built around teamwork, creativity, exploration, discovery, and problem-solving.

Kids will explore seven Learning Labs:

Art | Movement | Writing | Math | Discovery | Building | Community

And there's real learning underneath all that fun.

Pemberton Hive™ takes concepts kids are already encountering in the classroom and gives them new ways to use them: through hands-on challenges, collaboration, movement, experimentation, and creative problem-solving. It reinforces learning without simply repeating the school day, giving kids more ways to make connections and helping support the work already happening in their classrooms.

For Pemberton Elementary School students in PreK–5th grade

• Meets weekly on Mondays beginning October 19, 2026
• 3:15–4:45 p.m.
• Pemberton Elementary School
• FREE
• After-school snack provided
• Space is limited
• Parent/guardian pickup required

Our little bees will get to create their own instruments and then shake, tap, and play along as we explore beats, rhythms, and sounds together! 🥁🎶✨

Join us on October 2 from 11:00 AM–12:00 PM for a sweet morning of fall-themed fun for our little helpers ages 18 months–4 years!

Every kid needs a good story.

Stories are how kids figure things out. They get to wander into places they’ve never been, meet people completely unlike them, try on big ideas, ask weird questions, imagine impossible things, and sometimes find words for things they didn’t know how to say yet.

And sometimes, a story is just really, really good. That matters, too.

Through our partnership with Scholastic Books, Honeybee Collective is putting books directly into kids’ hands for them to keep. Because we want kids reading. We want them listening to stories, getting lost in them, talking about them, and eventually telling stories of their own.

And Scholastic doesn’t have to be our only partner in this.

We’re inviting our community to help us build something bigger. Families, businesses, organizations, and neighbors can help us keep good stories moving by sharing gently loved children’s books that are ready for their next reader.

Board books, picture books, early readers, chapter books, books for bigger kids. If there’s still a good story inside, we want it.

Your little bee’s old favorite might just become another little bee’s new favorite.

COMMUNITY SPOTLIGHT:
Together We Thrive

Together We Thrive has a bigger vision for what support can look like for the LGBTQ+ community on the Eastern Shore.

Led by Mark DeLancey, whose advocacy on the Shore spans more than a decade, this new organization is intentionally moving beyond a model that waits until people are struggling or in crisis before support shows up.

Instead, Together We Thrive is building around what helps people thrive in the first place.

Resource navigation. Peer mentorship. Advocacy. Intergenerational connection. Practical support. Stronger relationships. And a community where LGBTQ+ individuals, youth, families, and allies are connected to one another rather than navigating everything alone.

Their vision is an Eastern Shore where diversity isn't simply accepted, but recognized as a strength, and where people have the resources and relationships they need to participate, lead, and build the lives they want here.

This is community wellness in practice.

Our emotional and psychological well-being is shaped by the lives we actually live. By whether we feel safe and connected. Whether we have people we can rely on. Whether we can access resources when we need them. Whether we have opportunities to contribute, build relationships, and belong somewhere.

Together We Thrive is investing in those conditions.

They aren't only responding when something goes wrong. They're strengthening the relationships, resources, and community connections that help people build full lives right here on the Eastern Shore.

Not just helping people get through.

Creating more ways for people to thrive. 🐝🌈
