Lifting 5 days a week and still not seeing change? Your effort isn't the problem. Your weights are.
Here's what nobody tells women in the gym: showing up isn't the same as progressing. Your body adapts fast. Once a weight feels easy, your muscles have zero reason to change.
And after 30, this matters more than ever. Women lose roughly 3 to 5 percent of their muscle mass every single decade 😬 If you're not actively building muscle, you're slowly losing it. Less muscle means a slower metabolism, more stubborn fat, and a much harder road to fat loss no matter how clean you eat.
That's why strength training 3 to 4 days a week with real purpose isn't optional. It's how you burn fat, build lean muscle, and keep your metabolism working for you.
The sweet spot is a weight you can lift for 8 to 10 quality reps. The first several should feel smooth. The last few should feel like a fight, with your form still locked in.
Not sure where to start? Try this 👇
Grab a set of dumbbells and aim for 12 reps. Finished easily? Go up a size and try again. Can't hit 12 but get a solid 8? That's your weight 👌
Stay with it week after week and move up the moment it starts feeling easy. That's progressive overload, and it's where real change happens.
3 signs you're lifting too light:
1. You've used the same dumbbells for months, for every exercise and every rep range. If you can press a weight 15 times, it has no business in your 8 rep set.
2. You can hold a full conversation mid set and barely need rest between rounds.
3. Your face stays totally relaxed on your final reps. No struggle, no change.
You are stronger than you think. Nail your form, then give your muscles a reason to grow. Small weekly wins add up to results that actually last 💪
