Joseph Campbell taught that the first three chakras represent the powerful human drives of survival, sexuality, and personal power.
These energies are not inherently negative. They help us survive, create, achieve, and establish ourselves in the world. But when they are driven by fear, scarcity, craving, anger, or domination, they can also become powerful tools of manipulation.
Fear keeps us focused on survival.
Desire keeps us seeking fulfillment outside ourselves.
Conflict keeps us competing for power and identifying enemies.
So, here is the question:
Are we being intentionally kept in the lower centers of consciousness—continually reacting to fear, desire, and division—because people rooted in these energies are easier to control?
And perhaps the more personal question is:
When the world tries to pull us into fear, craving, or conflict, can we recognize what is happening and consciously return to the heart?
The heart does not deny our human instincts. It transforms them.
Survival becomes presence.
Desire becomes connection.
Power becomes service.
Separation begins to give way to compassion.
Maybe humanity’s next great awakening will not come from defeating those who manipulate fear—but from becoming increasingly difficult to manipulate.
What do you think?
