🤭🤭🤭🤭 I lost my MacBook Air at a café in Albany, California. What happened next reminded me why I still believe in the goodness of people. ❤️
😋😋 It started with the most exceptional affogato. So delicious that I think I drifted straight into dreamland.
And apparently, in that dreamland, I left my bag behind. On the ground. With my MacBook Air inside.
I didn't realize until much later, when I was looking for my computer in the car. That horrible moment of panic! Where was it? When had I last seen it?
I retraced my steps, going from a restaurant back toward the café. The restaurant hadn't found anything, and by the time I reached the café, it was closed.
But I had this very clear memory of putting my bag on the ground there.
Somewhere inside, I had a feeling I would get it back. I trusted that someone would find it and keep it safe. And yet, there was that little voice of doubt. What if someone had taken it?
The café opened at 8 on Sunday morning, and I was there.
A lovely woman, perhaps the owner, had found my bag and put it safely aside. She made sure I could identify what was inside before handing it back to me.
Everything was there.
I felt such enormous relief. But even more than that, I felt gratitude.
We hear so much about what is wrong in our world. About dishonesty, division, mistrust, and all the reasons we should be careful.
And we hear stories about other countries where people leave their phones or belongings in public places and find them returned. Well, it happens right here in the Bay Area, too.
Someone simply chose to do the right thing. No reward, no recognition. Just honesty and care for another human being.
☺️🙃😀Trust is a beautiful thing. And every small act of integrity helps create the world we want to live in.
I want to believe in that world. A world where we look out for one another, where kindness is natural, and where honesty is something we practice, not just something we hope for.
😍🥰😘Today, my faith in people feels a little stronger. And I am so grateful. 🥲🙏🍀🍄🌞❤️
