A lot of people hold off on getting in touch because they assume asking a question means starting something.

It doesn’t. You can call or text us about the I-693 and we’ll answer, whether or not you end up booking. What vaccines you might need, what your records should show, how the process works, whether we’re even the right fit for your situation.

Whether you need a flu shot for your I-693 comes down to timing.

It's required if your exam is completed between October 1 and March 31. Last season's shot doesn't count toward it either, since flu immunity doesn't carry over from one year to the next.

Outside those months it isn't required for the form, though a yearly flu shot is still worth having. If your exam is coming up, most pharmacies have the current shot now, and most insurance plans cover it at no cost.

Most adults walk in expecting a long list of shots. It's usually shorter than that.

What you need depends on your age, your medical history, and what your records already show. Some vaccines drop off entirely as you get older. Others aren't needed at all if you've had the illness before. And some are only required at certain times of year.

You only ever get the ones that actually apply to you. Sign up, upload your records, and we'll take it from there.

We know timing matters when you're working toward a filing deadline.

With twelve civil surgeons across seven offices, there's usually something open sooner than you'd expect. You choose the office, the date, and the time that suits you.

Finding a civil surgeon is usually the first real step after you decide to file, and knowing where to look saves time.

The official USCIS locator at uscis.gov/tools/find-a-civil-surgeon is the place to start, and it's free to search by ZIP code. Most metro areas have several options, which means you can choose on cost, timing, and convenience rather than taking the first result.

If you're in the Bay Area, we have seven offices with twelve USCIS-designated civil surgeons. Everything happens online, apart from a one-time 12-minute appointment, and you leave with your completed Form I-693 in hand.

Seeing a Request for Evidence arrive can be worrying, but it's worth knowing what one actually is. A Request for Evidence (RFE) is a formal notice that USCIS needs more information before it can make a decision. It isn't a denial.

Most I-693 RFEs come down to paperwork rather than anything about your health. Incomplete or unverifiable vaccination records are the most frequent cause. Others include a broken seal on the envelope, a missing signature or date, or an outdated form edition.

Almost all of them are preventable when your records are reviewed carefully before the form is signed.

If you were vaccinated as a child but your records are lost or unavailable, there's a way to check whether you still need those shots.

A titer test is a blood test that looks for antibodies, which your body produces after a vaccine or a past disease. If they're there, you're already immune, and that immunity counts as evidence for your I-693.

If your records can't be found and you'd rather not repeat every vaccine, let us know and we'll take it from there.

Knowing the full cost upfront makes this easier. Here's how it breaks down.

Your total has two parts. The US Medical Exams fee is $399, and it covers your records review, your physical exam, and your sealed I-693 certification the same day. No booking fees, no processing fees, nothing added later.

Labs and vaccines are separate, and you only pay for what you actually need. For most patients that's $0 through insurance or a pharmacy.

Our free 60-second planner shows you which vaccines you need before you spend anything.

At US Medical Exams, most of the I-693 process happens before you ever come in.

Sign up online and upload whatever records you may have. Our Civil Surgeon reviews them within 24 hours and tells you what's needed. Your labs and vaccines are handled at a lab and a pharmacy near you, and you pick your appointment yourself, at the office, date and time that works.

The only time you come to us is for the physical exam itself. One visit, and your completed Form I-693 is in your hands.
