What a wonderful evening of connection and community at in New Orleans! 💚

Last night, Glaucoma Research Foundation had the pleasure of bringing together friends, colleagues, researchers, and leaders in ophthalmology for our annual AAO Reception.

It was an opportunity to reconnect, celebrate the progress we’re making in glaucoma research, and strengthen the relationships that bring us closer to our shared goal: a world free from glaucoma.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and continues to support our mission. Together, we’re advancing research, inspiring hope, and working toward a future without glaucoma.

👀 Think you’d know if you had glaucoma? Think again.

At the Optometric Glaucoma Society meeting, GRF’s Cynthia Steel met with OGS President Danica Marrelli, OD, to clear up two common misconceptions about glaucoma:

❌ “Glaucoma has noticeable symptoms.”
❌ “A glaucoma diagnosis means I’ll eventually go blind.”

The reality? Glaucoma can progress without obvious symptoms, which is why regular comprehensive eye exams are so important. And with early detection, proper treatment, and ongoing care, vision loss can often be slowed or prevented.

Knowledge is power when it comes to protecting your sight.

👀 A reminder straight from the Optometric Glaucoma Society meeting: don’t skip your annual eye exam!

GRF’s Cynthia Steel, PhD, MBA, caught up with Nora Lee Cothran, O.D., F.A.A.O. to talk about why routine eye exams are so important for detecting glaucoma early and protecting your vision.

We’re excited to be exhibiting at OGS and connecting with eye care professionals committed to advancing glaucoma care and improving outcomes for patients. 💚

If you’re here, be sure to stop by and say hello!

🎂💚 Jack is turning TWO—and he’s already making a difference!

Some of you may remember Jack Rusnak from our Annual Gala, where he joined his mom, Brittni, on stage as she shared their family’s story and experience with glaucoma.

At just two years old, Jack has already helped bring greater awareness to glaucoma and the importance of advancing research. And now, he’s celebrating his birthday by giving back.⭐️

Instead of birthday gifts, Jack’s family is asking their family and friends to make a gift to Glaucoma Research Foundation—a cause that is incredibly close to their hearts.

Help Jack celebrate his birthday by supporting the research that could help create a future without glaucoma. 🥳🎈

Getting older doesn’t mean you have to stop caring for your vision. 👀💚

September is Healthy Aging Month, making it a great time to think about the steps you can take today to support healthy vision for years to come.

While some changes to our eyes are a normal part of aging, there are ways to help protect your eye health—including eating a balanced diet, staying active, protecting your eyes from UV exposure, avoiding smoking, and keeping up with regular comprehensive eye exams.

And because glaucoma can develop without noticeable symptoms, regular eye exams are especially important for detecting glaucoma and other eye conditions early.
Your future self—and your future vision—will thank you. 💚
