At the Whole System Care Conference, HealthRIGHT 360’s Chris Gonzales joined a panel discussion on culturally specific upstream models of care, sharing lessons from our work with youth and families through Asian American Recovery Services (AARS).

For young people, upstream care means creating opportunities for support before a concern becomes a crisis. It also means recognizing that population-specific services need to be grounded in the culture, relationships, and communities of the people they serve. We cannot expect young people and families to adapt to systems that were not designed with their experiences in mind.

That can mean creating space for connection alongside education and behavioral health support. Through AARS, community gatherings bring youth and families together around food, culture, and shared experiences. Our annual Sister-to-Sister Youth Leadership Conference brings hundreds of AAPI youth together for cultural connection, health education, mentorship, and leadership development.

These relationships are part of the work of prevention. They create opportunities to build trust, recognize needs earlier, and connect people to support before they reach a point of crisis.

Thank you to the California Behavioral Health Association and California Hospital Association for convening providers, community organizations, policymakers, and people with lived experience around the work of building a more responsive behavioral health system.

This Friday, HealthRIGHT 360’s Chris Gonzales, Clinical Program Manager, will join behavioral health leaders from across California for a panel on Culturally Specific Upstream Models of Care at the 2026 Whole System Care Conference in Palm Springs.

The panel will focus on approaches that respond to people’s behavioral health needs earlier, within the context of their communities, cultures, and lived experiences. Chris will speak about community defined evidence practices and the youth and family programs offered through HealthRIGHT 360’s Asian American Recovery Services in San Mateo and Santa Clara counties.

Chris will be joined by leaders from Safe Passages, Sacramento Native American Health Center, California Consortium for Urban Indian Health, and Zocalo Health. Thank you to the California Behavioral Health Association and California Hospital Association for bringing the field together for these conversations!

On September 12, 2026, HealthRIGHT 360 joined 20+ behavioral health organizations in LA for the annual AL-Impics Event in Wilmington, California to recognize and celebrate National Recovery Month. HealthRIGHT 360's Male Community Reentry Program, Female Offender Treatment and Employment Program, and Outpatient Program were among those in attendance.

Participants came together to honor the journey of recovery through a day of friendly athletic competition, fellowship, and community engagement. The event featured a variety of activities, including sports such as basketball, track and field, and weightlifting. These activities promoted healthy recreation, teamwork, resilience, and emphasized the importance of community as a vital component of the recovery process.

Special thanks to DRP, DAPO, and the dedicated HealthRIGHT360 staff whose collaboration, support, and commitment made participation in this meaningful event possible. Their efforts helped create an experience that celebrated recovery, promoted wellness, and reinforced the message that recovery is possible through unity, perseverance, and community support!

HealthRIGHT 360 joined the 14th annual Bay Area Reentry Conference and Expo on September 18, with Deputy Chief Behavioral Health Officer April Torres participating in the panel on Mental Health, Trauma, and Healing During Reentry.

April spoke about continuity of behavioral health and substance use disorder treatment during reentry, the importance of effective warm handoffs, and how providers can account for trauma, family reunification, legal obligations, and other responsibilities when supporting someone returning to the community.

Thank you to the Archdiocese of San Francisco for bringing together providers, community leaders, and people impacted by the criminal legal system, and to moderator Peter Murphy of the Mental Health Association of San Francisco and the other panelists for a thoughtful discussion.

September is National Recovery Month, a time to recognize and support the nation’s recovery community, innovation in evidence-based substance use disorder treatment, and the service providers, individuals, and families that support people who use drugs.

HealthRIGHT 360’s teams in San Francisco, Santa Clara, and San Mateo counties are marking the month through community and celebration. On September 9, we joined partners at the Voices of Recovery San Mateo County annual recovery picnic, where HealthRIGHT 360 was proud to be a sponsor. We were also proud to support San Francisco’s 6th Annual Recovery Day on September 4 at Boeddeker Park. These events brought people together for food, music, resources, and a day of recognition and connection.

Since 1989, National Recovery Month has created space to honor the strength of people in recovery and recognize the dedication of the providers and communities supporting them. HealthRIGHT 360 is grateful to be part of that work alongside our colleagues, partners, and the people we serve.

Aspiriant Wealth Management volunteers transformed the backyard garden at HealthRIGHT 360's Laurel House, our men's residential substance use treatment program in San Mateo. This made a huge impact for our clients who are working on transforming their lives, and showed them that the community cares. A heartfelt thank you goes to HealthRIGHT 360's Board Chair Talia Pierluissi for arranging the activity and the Aspiriant team for their hard work, donation of garden supplies and hygiene and bedding items for our clients.
