Fall is coming in hot and I wouldn’t have it any other way. Building, growing, learning, and doing my best to enjoy the ride; backed by incredibly special humans (you all 🫶), my dog, and a ton of heart. Thank you all for being here! Truly. Grateful for your love & support. A glimpse of our September (the last two are from fall 2019, sent to me this morning and I couldn’t help it). So much more to come! ✨

At 47, I keep coming back to the basics. Again and again, these are the things that help me feel strong and full in my being.

FITNESS
Move the body every day. Lift heavy 2 to 3 times per week. Yoga. Walk as much as possible. HIIT once a week (I don’t measure it, I just kick it up a notch or two).

FOOD
Protein and fiber forward. Eat whole, nourishing foods. Eat to feel strong in the body and in life. It’s all connected.

FRIENDS
Surround yourself with people who nourish you. Trust yourself on this. You really do know. Make time for friendship, connection, and community. We get by with help from our friends.

FLOW
Inner work is essential. Feeling well is ultimately an inside job. Learning stress resilience. It’s a daily practice over here, lifelong really. Rest day(s), too.

FOUNDATIONS
Learn about the changing body. Learn what is happening and work with the changes instead of against them. Stay up-to-date on the annuals: mammograms, labs, routine checkups.

Most importantly, savor this precious life, find what lights you up and dive in.

Fall is a frequency and we’re here for it. A few things I’m loving right now; the blueberry & apple season overlap, the sweetness & the spook, the force, the build, the savoring, the surprises, the softening, the sisterhood, naps (well, for my dog anyway), the work, the spirit.

✨and yes, the Halloween decorations are already up!💫😆💀

You can’t out-exercise a poor diet. I’ve taught in the fitness industry for almost 20 years, and I’m also a registered nurse. Movement is a way of life, as is nutrition. When I eat well, I feel best in my body, and that has a ripple effect into every other aspect of life.

Here’s what I’ve doubled down on at 47:

A protein-forward diet with whole foods to back it. I eat enough for strength and recovery, and to feel energized and balanced (most days:).

Whole foods. Protein, fruit, veggies, and fiber for a healthy microbiome.

Joy. Mealtime with my kiddo is one of my favorite parts of the day. It’s spacious and casual, and it’s our time to connect.

Life is precious. Keep it simple and stick to the good stuff, food and otherwise.☀️

Sleep is the only S-word I don’t say right now. :)As a 47 year old mom, and new founder, sleep has not been coming as readily these days. I’m hearing the same from a lot of you. Rather than stress about it, I’ve been focusing on rest and recovery to foster balance. Here’s what’s been helping to turn the dial a bit.

1. Adding an extra rest day. Two rest days per week has been a game changer.

2. Magnesium glycinate an hour before bed. Helps the body relax and I fall asleep faster.

3. No food 2 to 3 hours before bed. This gives the body time to put its energy toward repair.

4. Nature after screens. We’ve all gotten the memo about no screens before bed and that’s real. Sometimes I have to hop online after my little one goes to sleep to catch up on work. When that happens, I go outside afterward, take a few breaths, and connect with the sky and trees.

5. Gratitude. Everything, really.

Ebb and flow, everything has a season. Hope this helps and for everyone out there who’s juggling - find what works for you! X

As a mom and as I continue to build JULES INC., I’m learning to hold a lot while finding my breath in the space between.

Some days that’s a kick-ass sweat. Some days it’s four quiet minutes in the car before grocery shopping. (moms, am I right?) It all counts.

Pay attention to how you feel when you double down on the basics. At 47, this is what I’m going with. Healthspan, feeling well for as long as possible, is accessible to each and every one of us.
I’ve been sitting with how I feel in the body after honoring these basic 5:
Fitness - move the body daily.
Food - eat to feel stronger in body & life.
Friends - hang with nourishing people.
Flow - calm the nervous system, rest, recover.
Foundations - learn about the body, work with change.
Try it! XO

Takeaways from my first outing since founding & launching JULES INC. (July 21st!). I should really drop the mic on paella but I will add that we really are meant to connect with one another.🌟

At 47, here are 5 of my non-negotiables for feeling strong (most days).

1. Strength training. Lift heavy, 2-3 times per week.
2. Lead with protein. Back it with whole, nourishing foods.
3. Rest & Recovery. Telling a woman in her 40s to sleep is like telling a mother with young kids to get sunlight first thing in the morning. So, I’ve shifted my focus to rest & recovery. This simple shift has alleviated the pressure around sleep, and with that, sleep has come much more easily.
4. Exercise. Move the body as a way of life.
5. Learning to say no. Saying no, creates space for YES.

Yes.✨
