For many people in the TAAF community, the words brain aneurysm or AVM came first. The word stroke may have come much later, or not at all.
When a brain aneurysm or brain AVM ruptures and causes bleeding in or around the brain, that is a hemorrhagic stroke.
You can survive the rupture, treatment, and recovery, find your way into a support group, and still never realize that you are also a stroke survivor.
On World Stroke Day, we want our community to know: your experience belongs in the stroke conversation, too.
Swipe to learn the difference between ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke. Both are strokes. Both are emergencies. If you notice signs of either, call 911 immediately, even if the symptoms go away.
P.S. Today also happens to be National Cat Day. We couldn’t let that coincidence go to waste.
