What if the herbs that support your best friend aren't the same ones your body needs? 🌿

That's because herbalism isn't one-size-fits-all.
Different bodies have different needs, and learning how to work with plants means understanding those differences.
In our upcoming workshop, Herbal Allies for All, Emily Watson will explore plant allies that can support:
🌿 Hormonal balance
🌸 Reproductive health
💚 Emotional well-being
✨ Energetic alignment

We'll look at both the unique needs and shared experiences of women, men, and nonbinary folks.

Because herbalism is about meeting people where they are, not putting everyone into the same box.

📍 Ema's Herbs Apothecary, Ventura
📅 October 11 | 12–2 PM

Tell me you’re an herbalist without telling me you’re an herbalist… 😂

Maybe you’ve pulled over on the side of the road because you spotted a plant you had to identify, packed more tinctures than clothes for a trip, or have a kitchen counter permanently covered in jars labeled with herbs and dates. 👀

We know there are some good stories out there.

What’s the most “herbalist” thing you’ve ever done? 🌿😂

Drop yours in the comments — we want to hear the ones that would make perfect sense to an herbalist and absolutely NO sense to anyone else. 👇

Recap from my summer garden! 🌱☀️
Here’s what I grew this last season:

🌶️ Left bed: shish*to peppers, cucumbers, yellow squash, Sungold tomatoes, cilantro + mint

🫐 In between: blueberry

🌿 Big bed on the right: peas, beans, kale + herbs

🥬 Little square beds: peas, arugula, radishes, kale + onions

🐶 And in the little pots: a couple pots of cat grass so my dog has something of her own to nibble on while she “helps” me in the garden. 😂🌱

There’s something so satisfying about seeing everything in the soil. Now that this garden is finnaly at it’s end of the season, I will soon be ripping it all out to start the fall beds in just a couple weeks.

With the heat of the summer hitting 105 degrees up here, the last month or so I finally had to just let it go. But we got so much out of this year’s harvest that it’s ok to take a month off in the hottest time of year to start dreaming about the next round.

What are you growing right now? 🌿 Are you dreaming up your garden still, or do you have anything planted yet?

Drop a comment I would love to hear about your garden journey too!

Herbalists… you know we all have one. 😂🌿

That remedy you recommend and immediately have to follow it with,
“Okay, hear me out…you HAVE to try it…”

Maybe it’s something your grandmother taught you, something you learned years ago, or a plant preparation that sounds a little strange until you actually try it.

We want to hear yours 👀👇

Mine, it’s the green goop we make in every Herbal Apprentice Program - my Scrapes & Stings Salve. It’s simple, but it works… on EVERYTHING!

From bug bites, stings, wounds and chapped lips, to becoming the balm my husband uses for chapped hands, as well as his beard & hair grease!

We literally use this stuff every day in my house.

This little video is a clip from me weighing out herbs to make the next batch of it.

So, what’s your “I know this sounds crazy, but it works” herbal remedy?

Drop it in the comments — bonus points if you tell us how you discovered it. 🌿✨

Some things are worth waiting for. 🌵✨

A cactus can spend so much of the year quietly growing, adapting, and conserving its energy… and then, seemingly overnight, it blooms.

A little reminder from the plant world that growth doesn’t always need to be visible to be happening. 🤍

Sometimes the most beautiful transformations have been taking place quietly all along.

Have you caught any cactus blooms this season? 🌸🌵

Your herbal first aid kit doesn’t have to look the same for every situation. 🌿

Heading out on a backpacking trip? You’ll probably want something lightweight, minimal, and focused on the essentials — from trauma care and bites & stings to digestive support and easy-to-pack herbal preparations.

But that’s just one type of herbal first aid kit that I keep on hand.

In the full blog + video, I show you how I build my herbal first aid kits for different situations and what else to consider when deciding which remedies make the cut.
