Every stitch tells a story. 🧵

Earlier this month, Donna Landry stopped by to donate a custom quilt for a family in medical crisis. Donna makes these from scratch, which takes about 3 to 4 months each, and you can see the love and care in every stitch.

This one was extra special. We gave it to baby Jude and Robin on their first birthday, the family whose story we shared in our latest newsletter. Jude especially loved the mini bear quilt that came with it! Thank you, Donna, for your generosity and craftsmanship. 💛

18 years. 1 Incredible Community 💙

On October 8th, the JW House community came together to celebrate 18 years! 🎉 We also celebrated Jan-Willem’s birthday, and it was a day to remember.

We introduced our new Executive Director, Karen Molinari, who connected with our community and shared her excitement for what’s ahead. Board President Tom Bondi shared our vision for the coming years. Founder and JW’s mom, Anne Marie Knapen, spoke about JW House growing to serve adolescents and the gratitude we have for every donor and community member.

We’re thrilled to begin this new chapter together. 💛

Last month, the National Charity League Willow Rose chapter came by to unveil the brand-new playhouse they donated for the JW House backyard! 🏡

They didn’t stop there. They also painted rocks for our garden and made pizza and Rice Krispies treats for our families during Dinner Is Served. Lazy Dog Restaurants topped it off by sponsoring an ice cream bar for everyone.

We’re so grateful to these young women for giving their time to make a difference for the families we serve. 💛

A huge thank you to our incredible Student Board members Ella, Natalie, Shwasa, Spencer, and Aidan for preparing a wonderful Dinner Is Served meal for JW House families! ❤️

The team cooked veggie lasagna, meat lasagna, Caesar salad, and chocolate chip cookies, creating a warm and welcoming meal for families staying with us while their loved ones receive medical care.

We are so grateful for their time, compassion, and dedication to serving our community. 👏

💙 A sweet surprise for some very special people! 🍪

Recently, JW House had the pleasure of delivering a delicious cookie platter to the pediatric unit and social workers at Kaiser Santa Clara. This thoughtful treat was generously baked and donated by the incredibly talented volunteer, Alma Rogers.

We are so grateful for community members like Alma who help brighten the days of healthcare professionals and bring smiles to those who care for children and families every day. Thank you, Alma, for sharing your kindness one cookie at a time!

🌟 A huge shoutout to the Eagle Scouts and JW House Student Board!

JW House student board member Luis Szarindar lead an incredible renovation of our food pantry! Thanks to their hard work and dedication, our pantry now has more usable space, a new cabinet for additional supplies, and beautiful rollable wooden storage boxes to keep excess cans and pantry goods organized.

The improvements will help our staff and volunteers better serve the families who call JW House home. 👏

We are so grateful for young leaders who use their talents to make a meaningful impact in our community. Thank you for choosing JW House as the focus of your Eagle Scout project! 💙

Some partnerships make a lasting difference. 💙

We are incredibly grateful to the Hogue Foundation and Hely for their extraordinary support of JW House and the families we serve.

The Hogue Foundation helped make our laundry room remodel possible, providing new washers and dryers, cabinets, and shelving to create a more functional and welcoming space for families staying with us.

Their generosity has also helped fund our Extended Stay Apartment, giving families who need more than two weeks at JW House a place to stay close to their loved one’s care.

Recently, we had the honor of placing a plaque outside our laundry room in recognition of the Hogue Foundation’s incredible support.

We are so grateful to be part of the Hogue Foundation’s philanthropic work and, most importantly, to have partners who understand that supporting families means creating spaces where they can feel cared for, supported, and at home.

Thank you, Hogue Foundation, for believing in JW House and helping us care for families when they need it most. 🏠
