I used to thrive on chaos. š¤Æ
The noise. The stimulation. The constant movement. It excited me. Energized me. Made me feel alive. ā”ļø
(Donāt let me fool you, I still love that energy.) BURPEEEESSSS!!!!!!!
But, sometimes the noise isnāt just a product of our busy lives. Sometimes itās a pattern weāve subconsciously created to distract ourselves from the calm.
Because being still means being alone with our thoughts. And that can sometimes feel like Bic pencils in our eyeballs.
Weāre so afraid of what might surface in the silence that we never discover what else is waiting there.
The fears. The insecurities. The stories weāve been telling ourselves. The emotions we havenāt made space to acknowledge.
But alsoā¦
The ideas. The dreams. The clarity. The creativity.
Some of the most powerful discoveries about ourselves happen when we finally give our minds room to breathe.
Not when weāre rushing from place to place.
Not when weāre filling every available moment.
Not when weāre so focused on the next thing.
Definitely not when weāre doom scrolling.
But when we allow ourselves to simply be. No agenda. Just awareness.
So the next time you find yourself reaching for another distraction, get curious. š¤
What am I avoiding by staying busy? What might be on the other side of slowing down?
Maybe the clarity youāre searching for isnāt something you need to find. But something to hold space for. āØ
