Our beaches. Our water. Our wildlife. Our future. 🌊

From the shores of Siesta Key to Sarasota’s beautiful parks and waterways, our natural environment is part of what makes this community so special.
Local elections help shape decisions about water quality, conservation, development, and the protection of our natural resources.
The people we elect make decisions that impact the places we love today and for generations to come.

What does the future hold for Sarasota’s remaining green space? 🌳

As development continues to boom across the Suncoast, two county measures ask voters to extend the long-running Environmentally Sensitive Lands Protection Program through 2049 and authorize bonding up to $250M to buy land before its developed.

Voters will also decide on Amendment 3—a statewide property-tax measure designed to lower tax bills for homeowners, but one that local experts warn could shrink the property-tax base funding local conservation by up to 25%.

Who clears your street after the storm?
In Florida, we know what the week after a hurricane looks like: debris crews, power restoration, emergency services, and stormwater drains doing their job. Property taxes pay for all of it.
Amendment 3 would take $142 million out of Sarasota County over two years. That's why the League of Women Voters of Sarasota County opposes it.
