The cultural community center in the beautiful foothills of the Catskills will be a place where one can learn self-healing from emotional, physical & more.

Honzo Haven will be a unique place of refuge where one can learn to find his or her own solutions with personalized attention, and receive treatments for particular ailments at the same time. It will be a place of healing for those challenged by cancer, divorce, bereavement, job loss, or who are simply struggling to find peace in difficult times.“Honzo Haven” will be a place to find the grounded self with no attachments to the past, present or future, wash away unnecessary desires and cravings and get back to full health, peace and happiness.

It’s gotten quite chilly lately, hasn’t it? The season for winter preparations has finally arrived!

Unfortunately, the weekends had been rainy, and we just couldn’t find the right opportunity to cover the stairs… but thankfully, Sunday blessed us with a beautiful autumn day — the perfect weather for winter prep! On the way to the Catskills, the mountains greeted us with a breathtaking display of autumn colors. The vibrant leaves were so stunning that we couldn’t help but stop and take it all in🍁 The sight of colorful leaves blanketing the stairs was also charming in its own special way.

With all the rain this season, there were waterlogged branches and heavy limbs scattered here and there. We started by clearing those away first! We then carefully removed the wet leaves that had gotten wedged into the gaps between the wooden steps, making sure the wood could dry out properly.

Next, we wrapped the handrails with large clear plastic wrap to protect them from rain and snow. Then, one by one, we carefully covered each section of the 108 steps — the symbol of Honzo Haven, representing the past, present, and future — and placed plenty of weights to keep the covers secure. And just like that… we were done!

Finally, we planted some bulbs here and there🌷 We can’t wait to see them bloom beautifully next year!

We hope the stairs of Honzo Haven make it safely through this winter. We welcome you all back with warmth and joy next spring🌸

ここ最近、急に冷え込んできましたね。ついに冬支度の季節がやってきました！あいにく週末は雨続きで、なかなか階段をカバーできるタイミングが掴めずにいましたが…日曜日はありがたいことに秋晴れ！絶好の冬支度日和となりました。

キャッツキルまでの道中、お山では、色とりどりの紅葉が目に飛び込んできて、思わず立ち止まってしまうほどの美しさでした🍁
鮮やかな木の葉が階段を覆っている光景も、また風情があって素敵でした。

今季は雨が多かったせいか、水分を含んで重くなった枝や太い枝があちこちに転がっていました。まずはそれらを片付けるところからスタート！階段の木の隙間に入り込んだ濡れた葉っぱも丁寧に取り除き、木がしっかり乾燥できるように整えていきます。

次は、大切な手すりを雨や雪から守るため、大きなクリアラップでしっかり巻きつけていきます。そして、Honzo Havenのシンボルであり、過去・現在・未来を象徴する108段の階段をそれぞれ丁寧にカバーし、外れないよう重石をたっぷり配置して…完成です！

最後に、所々に球根も植えました🌷 来年、きれいに咲いてくれるのが今からとっても楽しみです！

この冬も、Honzo Havenの階段が無事に乗り越えられますように。そして来春、また皆さまを元気に迎えられますように🌸

Nature gives us so many wonderful gifts.
We escaped the heat of Manhattan and enjoyed a relaxing afternoon.
The watermelon was juicy, the corn was sweet, and it was the perfect way to spend a Sunday afternoon.

Happy Spring! （日本語は下にございます）
☆We are looking for volunteers to work with beautiful nature!☆
A perfect sunny day for volunteering! Honzo Haven’s 108-step staircase has awakened from its winter slumber once again this year.
On Sunday, our volunteer group gathered under a clear blue sky! Our mission this time was to remove the covers from the 108-step staircase—a true symbol of Honzo Haven.
As soon as we stepped into the great outdoors, we were greeted by crisp air, warm sunshine, and the chirping of birds. Just being able to work in an environment like this was enough to lift our spirits

As for the w**ds… There were surprisingly few!
To be honest, before we started, I was a little worried that “the area around the stairs might be overgrown with w**ds…” But thanks to this year’s long, bitterly cold winter, w**d growth was more suppressed than usual. This made for a much easier working environment, and things went smoothly right from the start!

Alright, time to start removing the covers!
First, we carefully removed the plastic wrap that had been wrapped around the handrails to protect the wood. Then, we wiped down the heavy stair covers thoroughly with rags as we took them off one by one. Some spots were a little damp, but that’s all part of the charm. The 108 steps, having weathered the long winter, stood tall and proud once the covers were removed. They looked so reliable!

It’s the start of the season when the stairs at Honzo Haven will once again welcome many visitors 🌿

🌞快晴のボランティア日和！Honzo Havenの108階段、今年も冬眠から目覚めました。
日曜日、青空の下でボランティアグループが集合！今回のミッションは、Honzo Havenのシンボルである108階段のカバー外しです。
大自然の中に一歩踏み入れると、澄んだ空気と気持ちのいい太陽の光、そして鳥のさえずりが出迎えてくれました。🍀

雑草は…意外と少なかった！
実は作業前、「階段まわりが雑草でぼうぼうになってるのでは…」とちょっぴり心配していたんです。でも、今年の冬は長くて極寒だったおかげか、雑草の成長がいつもより抑えられていました。おかげで作業がしやすい環境で、スタートから順調！

いざ、カバー外し作業スタート！
まずは、手すりの木を守るために巻かれていたラップを丁寧に取り外すところから。そして、重い階段のカバーを雑巾でしっかり拭きながら、一枚一枚外していきます。
場所によっては少し濡れている箇所もありましたが、それもご愛嬌。長い冬をしっかり耐え抜いた108階段は、カバーが外れるとどんと堂々と君臨していました。なんだか頼もしい！
Honzo Havenの階段が、また多くの人を迎えてくれる季節の始まりです🌿
