When I read a review like this, I just feel incredibly grateful. Grateful that I can be of service. Grateful that my life path has allowed me to do this work. Grateful that I get to meet so many incredible women like, Emma, through my healing practice. Emma owns her own healing space in West Seattle called Revitalize Spa which offers much needing healing treatments to our community. I actually recommend her spa all the time to people I meet through Mama Be Well.

Supporting women the world needs most, like Emma, is truly the honor of a lifetime. Thank you to all who have supported me in my work, trusted me with their healing journey, and met me on this path. I truly feel like I’m living my purpose when I’m at the Reiki table. I’m so grateful this work is possible for me.

Sending peace & Reiki,

These are pictures of the setup for our very first Tuesday Night Beauty on 11/26/2024 🥹

Next month marks 2 years of Tuesday Nights spent in meditation and community with you!

I want to do something special to celebrate as a community. For those who’ve attended, do you have any ideas??

So grateful I followed my nudge to host a weekly meditation circle. It’s become one of my favorite things to come out of Mama Be Well 💓

Just a sweet lil community event and fundraiser that I love to shout out and support 👻🎃✨

West Seattle Monster Dash is this weekend! Such a fun race, raising funds and awareness for an amazing cause SSC Co-op Preschools 🍎

I remember it clearly. The year was 2010. I was at a toddler play time at the Hiawatha community center with my son. I overheard two moms talking about preschool enrollment. Being the expert eavesdropper and unapologetic interrupter that I am, I inserted myself into their conversation and asked them what preschool they were talking about.

They then told me about South Seattle Cooperative Preschools. My son was only two. I was a first time (and very unplanned/unprepared) parent. Preschool had not yet entered my mind, but I had been looking for ways to get him more time around other kids.

Henry was the first baby in the family and our friend group. Nick and I worked opposite schedules, so Henry wasn’t in daycare either. So he spent a lot of time around adults. And pretty limited time around other kids.

I learned that co-op preschool had classes for 1’s, 2’s, 3’s and 4’s. And it was parent involved and very affordable. I was sold!

I signed Henry up for the Alki 2’s class that Fall and the rest is history. The support I received from the Parent Education aspect of the Cooperative Preschools program was sooo valuable.

I spent 6 nourishing and growth-filled years as a Co-op Preschool Parent (3 years with each kid). Deep friendships were made, and I was supported through those challenging toddler and preschool years in ways that I know created lasting positive ripple effects in both of my kids lives as well as my own.

I’m now well past my preschool mom era. My kids are in middle school and college now! But I’m still an SSC Co-op Preschools super fan! And very grateful to be able to contribute some prizes (one Reiki + Insight Session + 4 meditation class certificates) to the event.

See you all at Lincoln Park on Saturday!

Meditation in the 10th month 🙏🏼🌒✨

My capacity for my work right now is not what I wish it was.

My youngest has two chronic, painful medical conditions that we’ve been navigating for the past 11 months.

This Fall, we opted for online school for her. Which means I’m spending a lot of time at home, supporting her in her self-paced studies.

I’m grateful that Mama Be Well exists and that I’m still able to do the work that means so much to me, while devoting most of my energy to life at home right now.

In addition to hosting my weekly meditation circle, Tuesday Night Beauty, I’m also still practicing and teaching Reiki on a limited basis Fri-Mon.

I’m working with two new Reiki students in 1:1 mentorships this Fall, which fills my cup and inspires me beyond measure.

Weekly sessions with those two incredible women, in addition to Reiki + Insight Sessions with clients new and old, is truly a gift to my spirit in this season.

Thank you to all who continue to trust me with your healing journey! What an honor it is to share sacred space with you.

If you’re interested in Reiki mentorship, I’ll have space for two more students in the new year. Please reach out if you’re interested!

Also, if you want to book a Reiki + Insight Session, and what you see on my calendar does not work for your schedule, please send me a message. I often have flexibility beyond what’s listed.

9.7.2026 The day I dropped my son off at college. He’s going to school here in Seattle, so he’s close. But it was still a surreal feeling to move him into his freshman year housing and drive away.

Later that evening I was feeling a little emo when I went grocery shopping at Trader Joe’s, so I bought myself this plant as a pick me up. I actually named him Henry, after my son 😂 It’s a little silly, but it makes me smile and actually brings me some comfort to see this toddler sized “Henry” plant thriving in the sunlight of my living room these past 3 weeks. I’m considering marking its growth on the wall, like we once did with our human boy 🥰

What strange things did you do to cope when your first little birdy left the nest?

Motherhood is a strange, beautiful and painful trip. Who came up with this?

Sending peace & Reiki to all of the mamas who are feeling all of the motherhood feels right now. This journey is not for the faint of heart. Are you ok out there?

Love & solidarity,
~Katie

Dear Shelterwood Members,

Sorry for the sudden goodbye. I was “let go” on Monday. After a hard conversation on Friday afternoon, I could feel it coming. So Monday morning, I got as much work done as I could before I left. I organized my work tasks so that hopefully nothing fell through the cracks for you. If you received an email from me that morning, regarding some aspect of your membership, I was sending it knowing it would likely be my last touch point with you.

I loved the work I was doing. I loved getting to know you and your work. I loved being in the offices at Pioneer Square. I loved the mission of Shelterwood.

I was only in my role as Operations Manager for 4.5 short months. Can you believe that? It felt longer. Perhaps because during my time there I was meeting people I was destined to meet. And there was a many lifetime connection feeling with so many of you.

I’m grateful for what I learned. Both in my work, and in this letting go. I will likely share more at some point, since I believe we all can learn from one another’s lived experiences. And, it always helps me when I share honestly about my life. Helpers, teachers and clues find me that way.

For now, I’m decompressing. Soaking up this unexpected extra time with my kids (human and fur). Reconnecting with friends. Getting back on track with my marathon training.

Getting let go from this job is actually not the hardest thing I have going on in my life right now. The other hard things are not solely mine to share though, so I don’t talk about them publicly here.

We all carry multitudes. The intense crescendo and then sudden ending of my time at Shelterwood is now another experience added to the multitudes I carry.

Thank you for reading. I’m grateful to have shared this part of my journey with you.
