We are so honored that for a second time Jay Harness was featured and quoted in OncoDaily! Jay speaks about how we talk about exercise matters in cancer care.

Exercise isn’t a one-size-fits-all prescription it’s a conversation that should meet each person where they are, respecting their goals, needs, and readiness.

The way we communicate can help make movement feel possible.

Exercise can be an important part of your cancer journey but knowing what’s safe for you matters.

Before starting or changing your routine, talk with your healthcare team about your treatment, symptoms, and individual needs.

Small steps. Safe movement. Stronger recovery.

WOW. We don’t mean to brag, but those in the onc. space know this is no small step! OncoDaily wrote an article about one of Dr. Harness’s LinkedIn posts—aka if you’re not following him on LinkedIn, here’s your reminder to do so!

It states: Stefano Magno, Breast surgeon, Chief of  Center for Integrative Oncology at Agostino Gemelli University Policlinic, shared a post on LinkedIn by Jay Harness, Chief Medical Officer at Maple Tree Cancer Alliance, adding:
“Can patients lose fat while preserving the muscle they need to fight cancer? The answer increasingly appears to depend on whether structured exercise and proper nutrition accompany medical therapy. Lifestyles are not an add-on, they are an essential part of the integrative cancer care.”

People are watching, and we’re incredibly excited about the fact that exercise oncology is getting more of the spotlight it deserves; we won’t stop! This is only the beginning.

Thank you for being apart of this exciting ride with us!

Looking back at our conversation with Dr. Dawn Mussallem, she reminds us all about the role diet plays in our overall health and ability to recover.

This rings especially true when adding the extra weight of cancer treatment and radiation to your routine. It adjusts the body’s needs and abilities, and our diet needs to change to help counter that.

Looking back on our interview with Dr. Renee Exelbert (Renee Exelbert ) we discussed how strength comes in many ways, and it’s not just about building muscle but about finding what makes you feel both physically AND mentally strong.

As a Cancer survivor, psychologist, personal trainer, and bodybuilder, Renee knows firsthand how taxing chemotherapy can be on your overall psychi, so she emphasizes the importance of integrating psychotherapy and exercise as a way of dealing with a cancer diagnosis.
