Insulin resistance…

They tell you to eat less sugar. Try harder.

Here is what they missed.

In perimenopause insulin resistance is directly correlated to fluctuating and declining Estrogen.

Estrogen directly maintains insulin receptor sensitivity through GLUT4 transporters which move glucose out of your blood and into your cells.

When estrogen declines GLUT4 expression drops. Your cells stop responding to insulin regardless of what is on your plate!

This is why you can be:

✅ Eating clean

✅ Exercising regularly

✅ At a healthy weight

And still be insulin resistant at 42 with an A1C of 5.8 or less!!!

Estrogen deficiency is independently associated with insulin resistance separate from diet, body weight and activity level entirely

➡️ You are not doing everything wrong. You are missing the hormonal piece nobody explained.

So proud of my little clinic and my amazing husband! I cannot thank him enough for everything he does for me. The porch is the last piece of the puzzle…it just needs slats and bottom trim. We’re getting there!
