Billie Gilliam is a Cleveland based trauma therapist and clinical supervisor independently and dually licensed as a professional clinical counselor and a chemical dependency counselor, with supervisor designation on both. She is the owner of Parker Counseling and Consulting Studio in Beachwood, where she and her team work with individuals, couples, and families.
With more than twenty years of practice focusing on trauma and PTSD, depression, anxiety, grief, and substance use, her approach operates at the intersection of mind, body, and environment. This includes: the meaning a person makes of what happened, what the body is still holding, and the messages they were raised with, all showing up in what they do and feel today. She describes it in one line: surviving is not thriving.
Beyond the clinic, Billie teaches psychology and chemical dependency at the post-secondary level, trains organizations on mental health, substance use, relationships, and leadership, and has spoken publicly on social determinants of health and on psychological safety, including on the Negotiate Anything podcast. She holds a master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from John Carroll University and a bachelor's in Psychology from Cleveland State University, with additional training in addictions, psychopharmacology, and physiology.
