It's officially here.

📅 Medicare Annual Enrollment: October 15 – December 7

For the next several weeks, people with Medicare can review their health and prescription drug coverage for 2027.

Notice I said review.

I didn't say everybody needs to change.

My goal isn't to see how many people I can move from one plan to another.

My goal is to help people understand what they have and whether it still makes sense.

If it does?

Stay right where you're at

You know what they say... If it ain't broke don't fix it!!

Tomorrow Annual Enrollment begins.

Here's my advice before the starting line:

Don't start by asking, “What new plan should I get?”

Start by asking:

“Is there anything wrong with the plan I already have?”

Did your costs change?

Are your prescriptions still covered?

Are your doctors still in the network if you're on a network-based plan?

Does the coverage still fit your needs?

If everything still works, we may have a very short conversation this year — and that's completely fine with me, it is always nice to hear from my members.

A good reminder as Medicare Annual Enrollment gets closer:

You do not have to make Medicare decisions alone.

If you get a phone call, letter, or advertisement that has you wondering whether you need to change something, talk it over with someone you trust before making a decision.

That might be your spouse, an adult child, a close friend, or your insurance agent.

There is nothing wrong with saying:

“I want to think about it first.”

or

“I want to check with someone I trust before I make any changes.”

Good decisions usually come from understanding your options — not from feeling rushed or pressured.

If your mailbox is starting to fill up with Medicare mail, here’s one simple tip:

Don’t treat every envelope the same.

Some of it is important information from Medicare or your current insurance company.

Some of it is advertising.

And some of it is designed to LOOK important enough that you open it right away.

A good rule of thumb:

Keep anything from Medicare or your current insurance company until you’ve had a chance to review it.

Everything else? Look at who actually sent it before assuming it has anything to do with your current coverage.

And if you’re not sure what something is, bring it in or send me a picture of it. I’m happy to help you sort out what matters and what can go straight to the recycling bin. 😄

Medicare Annual Enrollment is right around the corner.

And if your mailbox hasn't already told you that, your television probably has. 😂

Over the next couple of months, I'm going to try to cut through some of the noise and share a few things that are actually useful.

The biggest thing to remember:

You don't automatically need a new plan just because it's Annual Enrollment.

Sometimes we find something worth changing.

Sometimes the best answer is, “You're in a good spot. Stay right where you're at.”

Both are perfectly good outcomes.

Medicare season can come with a lot of noise…

Phone calls.
Mailers.
“Important” envelopes.
And a whole lot of confusion.

At AgentJamieB, we do NOT make unsolicited calls to you, and we do NOT send you piles of mail you did not ask for.

We believe Medicare help should feel simple, respectful, and on your terms.

Have questions? Reach out when you are ready.

No pressure. No endless phone calls. Just local help when you need it.

Please do not post Medicare numbers, medical information, or policy details in the comments.

Now that Labor Day is behind us, September starts to feel a little more real.

The summer rush slows down.
Schedules change.
Appointments get added to the calendar.
And a lot of people start thinking about what they need to understand before the end of the year.

If Medicare is one of those things you have been meaning to ask about, this is a good time to start simple.

You do not need to figure everything out at once.

Start with one question.
Write it down.
Ask for help when you need it.

What is one thing you are trying to get organized this September?

Please keep questions general and do not post Medicare numbers, medical information, or policy details in the comments.

Football season is almost here, and that means plenty of armchair experts.

Medicare can feel the same way.

A friend, neighbor, coworker, or cousin may say, “This is what I did, so you should do it too.”

They may mean well, but your doctors, prescriptions, current coverage, work situation, and personal needs may be different from theirs.

Good advice starts with understanding your situation.

Now for the important question:

What is your favorite football snack?

Turning 65 this fall?

September, October, and November birthdays can sneak up quickly when summer has been busy.

Medicare has timelines, letters, and decisions that can feel confusing at first, especially if you are still working, have employer coverage, or are helping a spouse or parent understand what comes next.

There is no need to panic.

Start early, ask questions, and give yourself time to understand your situation.

Are you a fall birthday person, or do you know someone turning 65 soon?

September always feels like a fresh start.

Summer is not completely over, but the calendar starts to feel different. School starts, routines change, evenings cool down, and people begin thinking about the things they want to get organized before fall.

If Medicare questions are on that list, now is a good time to start writing them down.

You do not need to know all the answers before asking the first question.

What is one thing you are looking forward to in September?
