🧠 Why Does Movement Disorder-Specific Experience Matter?

Movement disorders are complex, and managing them often requires more than addressing the most visible symptoms.

Conditions such as Parkinson's disease, dystonia, essential tremor, and other movement disorders can affect mobility, sleep, daily activities, and overall quality of life.

Providers with movement disorder-specific experience bring a deeper understanding of:

✔️ Complex symptom patterns — Recognizing how motor and non-motor symptoms may interact and change over time.

✔️ Medication management — Understanding treatment responses, side effects, and when adjustments may need to be considered.

✔️ Individualized care — Looking beyond a diagnosis to understand how symptoms affect each person's daily life.

✔️ Ongoing support — Helping patients and care partners navigate changes, ask questions, and make informed care decisions.

At NeuroMotion Telehealth, our providers bring specialized movement disorder experience to personalized, accessible neurological care.

Because effective care isn't just about managing symptoms. It's about understanding the person living with them.

⏰ With Parkinson's Disease, Medication Timing Matters.

For individuals living with Parkinson's disease, when medication is taken can be just as important as taking it consistently.

Some Parkinson's medications, particularly levodopa, help manage movement symptoms for a certain period of time. As their effects wear off, symptoms such as stiffness, tremor, or slowed movement may return before the next dose.

A few things to keep in mind:

⏰ Follow your prescribed schedule. Taking medication at the recommended times can help manage symptoms more consistently.

💊 Pay attention to changes. Notice if symptoms return before your next scheduled dose or if medication seems to take longer to work.

🗣️ Communicate with your provider. Changes in medication response may mean your treatment plan needs to be reassessed.

Medication management isn't always one-size-fits-all. Your movement disorder specialist can help determine an approach that fits your symptoms, daily routine, and individual needs.

Have you noticed changes in how well your medication works throughout the day? Bring those observations to your next appointment.

Never adjust your medication schedule or dosage without guidance from your healthcare provider.

Movement disorder symptoms aren’t always the same from one day or - even one hour - to the next.

Someone may feel like they’re moving well in the morning but notice more stiffness, tremor, fatigue, or difficulty with movement later in the day. These fluctuations can be influenced by many factors, including:

• Medication timing and how long its effects last
• Sleep quality and fatigue
• Stress or changes in routine
• Physical activity
• Illness or other changes in overall health

For people living with Parkinson’s disease and other movement disorders, noticing when symptoms change and what may be happening around those changes - can provide helpful information for their care team.

If you notice a new symptom or a meaningful change in your usual pattern, talk with your healthcare provider.

At NeuroMotion, specialized movement disorder care considers the patterns and changes that happen in everyday life not just a single moment in time.

A movement disorder diagnosis can come with a lot of messages about what you may lose—independence, abilities, routines, or the life you expected.

But a diagnosis doesn’t tell the whole story.

Specialized movement disorder care looks beyond the diagnosis to understand what matters most to you, address the symptoms affecting your daily life, and help you navigate what comes next.

At NeuroMotion Telehealth, our goal is to make specialized, personalized movement disorder care more accessible—wherever you are.

A lot can happen between neurology appointments and it can be hard to remember every change once you're sitting in front of your provider.

Keeping a few simple notes can help you make the most of your next visit.

Consider tracking:

• New or changing symptoms
• When medications are working well or wearing off
• Falls, near-falls, or changes in balance
• Changes in sleep, energy, mood, or daily activities
• Medication side effects or concerns
• Questions you want to discuss with your provider

You don't need a complicated tracking system. A few notes in your phone or a notebook can help you and your care team identify patterns and focus on what's most important to you.

Specialized movement disorder care starts with understanding what life looks like between appointments, too.

Parkinson’s is often recognized by its motor symptoms, but the condition can affect much more than movement.

Sleep changes, fatigue, anxiety, depression, cognitive changes, and digestive concerns can have a significant impact on daily life. These non-motor symptoms deserve attention alongside tremor, stiffness, slowness, and balance changes.

Sharing the full picture with your provider can support a more complete and individualized approach to care. If a symptom is affecting your quality of life, it’s worth discussing even if it doesn’t seem connected to movement.

At NeuroMotion Telehealth, we look beyond motor symptoms to understand how Parkinson’s is affecting the whole person.

Telehealth may change where an appointment happens—but it doesn’t have to make care feel less personal.

At NeuroMotion, each visit is centered on the individual: their symptoms, concerns, daily experiences, and goals. Patients receive specialized movement disorder care from the comfort of home, without the added burden of traveling long distances to reach an experienced provider.

For people living in areas with limited access to movement disorder specialists, telehealth can help bring individualized care within reach.

Because accessible care can still be thoughtful, collaborative, and personal.

Parkinson’s care is about more than managing tremor, stiffness, or changes in movement.

Non-motor symptoms—including sleep difficulties, mood changes, fatigue, pain, and cognitive concerns—can also have a meaningful impact on everyday life. Yet these symptoms may be overlooked or may not come up during a typical appointment.

Dr. Ospina takes a whole-person approach, looking beyond motor symptoms to better understand each patient’s complete experience. Because specialized care should consider not only how someone moves, but how they feel, function, and live each day.

📍 NeuroMotion provides specialized movement disorder care through telehealth.
