🥰 Truffle found her forever family 🥰

23-month Chocolate Labrador Female for adoption.

Truffle has been in training to become a service dog since she was 8 weeks old. She’s been an excellent student; however, we feel she is best suited to be a family companion.

Truffle has extensive socialization, is comfortable in a crate and knows over 60 commands. She learns quickly, has outstanding home skills, and likes nothing more than to follow her family around the house.
She has moderate drive, rides well in a car, but prefers her home over public locations.
She would do best in a home that is knowledgeable on dog behaviors.

This sweet girl has an incredible foundation and will make a phenomenal, highly-skilled family companion for a household that can provide routine and structure.

Parents (Maverick x Rose):
OFA Hips – Excellent/Good
OFA Elbows, Eyes, Advanced Cardiac, Patella, Thyroid – Normal
OFA Dentition - Full
Full Genetic testing
Serious inquires only!

Must have an application on file with us to be considered.
Truffles adoption fee would be paid by you, in the form of a donation, directly to the non-profit that has been training her for the past 21 months.

Standard Contract.
Potential homes will be vetted.

Recipient of this amazing girl will receive one on one training.

4th of July is just hours away!

Fireworks can cause anxiety in dogs (humans too). It's not about being 'dramatic' or 'seeking attention'. This is about real, physiological fear that can be overwhelming.

Why dogs experience fireworks differently than we do:
- They hear frequencies we can't; which makes sounds more intense.
- Fireworks can reach 190 decibels, loud enough to damage hearing.
- Sudden 'pops' and booms don't resemble natural sounds.
- They don't understand we are celebrating Independence Day and these sounds aren't threatening their safety.

Fireworks can create legitimate fear with symptoms like trembling, panting, hiding, pacing, and escape attempts.

Safety and Calming Tips
*Secure Your Home and Yard.
- Keep all doors, windows, and curtains closed to muffle the loud booms and block out sudden flashes of light.
- Take your dog out for their potty breaks well before sunset to avoid being outside when the fireworks start.
- Double-check that your physical yard and pasture fences are secure.

* Drown Out the Noise. Muffling sudden sounds is critical for keeping pets stress levels manageable.
- Turn on a white noise machine, a loud fan, soothing music, or the television to mask the sound of explosions.
- Set up a comfortable "den" in your house, such as their favorite crate draped with a blanket or a quiet spot in the back of a closet.

Be a responsible pet owner during this scary time for your animals.
Stay calm if your pet gets anxious as they will often mirror your behavior.

Not every dog — or every training tool — is created equal.

One of the most important things a handler can understand is that each dog is an individual, and they should be treated as such. I often hear things like, “Well, with my last dog…” or “I’ve always used this tool with other dogs…”

Past experiences can provide guidance, but they should never prevent us from adapting to the dog standing in front of us. A tool or method that worked exceptionally well for one dog may be ineffective or even counterproductive for another.

Good training is not about forcing every dog into the same mold. It’s about understanding the individual animal, recognizing what they need, and being willing to adjust your approach when something isn’t working.

The best trainers and handlers are not the ones who rigidly stick to one method — they’re the ones who know when it’s time to change course for the benefit of the dog.

Want to help a future service dog without the puppy stage?

Our older dogs are around 1 year old and ready for advanced training and real world exposure.

That means:
✔ No potty training
✔ No late night puppy schedules
✔ More flexibility for busy homes
✔ Full support from our team
✔ A direct impact on a veteran’s future service dog

This is one of the most rewarding ways to get involved with Patriot K9s of Wisconsin.

Quest is from our Feb. 2024 ‘Puppies, Spice, and Everything Nice’ Litter.
Martin x Rose
Our smallest litter to date of just 3 pups.
Rosemary (Mika) and Thyme (Quest) started their journey with local non-profits and have now both completed their Service Dog training programs. Super proud of these puppies and the work they are doing to assist others.

Our beautiful Labrador Retriever, Quest, completed his training and passed his public access test. Over 40 community volunteers contributed and donors to his training. He is now a fully trained service dog for a Wisconsin Resident. We could not be more proud of him
