Today is National Depression Screening Day, a reminder that recognizing changes in your mental health is an important first step toward getting support.

We all experience difficult days, but when feelings of sadness, hopelessness or a loss of interest in everyday activities begin to persist, it may be more than just a bad week.

Depression can look different for everyone, and knowing when to seek additional support isn't always easy. Understanding the signs and checking in with yourself or someone you love can help start the conversation about mental health.

At Louisiana Behavioral Health, we're here to help individuals and families better understand depression and explore available treatment options.

October is National Depression and Mental Health Screening Month.

As a new season begins, it is important to check in with the people around us and with ourselves. Changes in mood, energy, sleep or interest in everyday activities can sometimes be signs that additional support may be helpful.

Mental health screenings can offer an opportunity to recognize concerns early and better understand when it may be time to talk with a healthcare professional. They can also help open the door to conversations that may otherwise feel difficult to start.

If you or someone you love has been feeling overwhelmed, withdrawn or depressed, reaching out can be an important first step toward finding support.

This month is a reminder that you do not have to wait until things feel unmanageable to ask for help

Louisiana Behavioral Health was proud to attend the Ochsner LSU Medical Center's An Evening of Healers 2026, which highlighted patient stories and remarkable recoveries made possible by the outstanding collaboration of the healthcare teams who supported patients on their journeys to wellness.

The evening showcased personal accounts of resilience, from honoring the multidisciplinary teams (physicians, nurses, physical and occupational therapist, peer support specialists to community partners like emergency transport) whose coordinated efforts and compassionate support helped patients reclaim their lives.

We are honored to be part of such a wonderful and supportive community.

September 10 is World Su***de Prevention Day.

Today is a reminder of the importance of creating environments for open, honest conversations about mental health and su***de. By checking in with those around us and listening with compassion, we can shift from silence and misunderstanding to empathy and support.

At Louisiana Behavioral Health, we are honored to be part of this conversation. We encourage you to reach out to someone today, ask how they are doing, and take time to listen. A conversation can be the first step in helping someone feel seen, heard, and supported.

Please join us in celebrating Louisiana Behavioral Health’s newest SAMA instructor, Zach C.!

Louisiana Behavioral Health team members receive SAMA training at hire, every two years, and as needed to support a safe, therapeutic environment for patients and staff.

SAMA, or Satori Alternative to Managing Aggression, is a crisis-prevention approach focused on verbal de-escalation, protective techniques, and safe physical management when needed. This training helps team members respond to challenging situations with compassion, confidence, and safety.

Congratulations, Zach! We are grateful for your leadership and commitment to supporting our team.

Louisiana Behavioral Health is proud to support our community through mental health services, education, and mentorship for local psychiatric residents.

Our team was honored to attend the 2026 Psychiatry Graduates Ceremony and Dinner, where Oceans Healthcare CEO Stuart Archer served as guest speaker and shared reflections on leadership and compassionate care.

The evening was a meaningful opportunity to celebrate the dedication and hard work of the graduating residents. We were also proud to see Louisiana Behavioral Health consultant Charles Lee recognized with the graduates’ Non-Clinical Award.

Congratulations to the 2026 psychiatry graduates. We are grateful for the opportunity to support the next generation of psychiatrists and the important work they will continue to do for patients and families.

When mental health challenges begin to affect safety, stability, or daily life, knowing the right path forward matters.

Different levels of care are designed to meet different levels of need. For some, that may mean the structure and support of inpatient care. For others, an intensive outpatient program may provide the right support while allowing them to continue living at home.

Both are designed to help individuals receive care, build stability, and take the next step forward with support.

Louisiana Behavioral Health is here to provide steady, compassionate care at every stage of need.
